Hi is it possible to charge the keys in the ignition while the car is stood and has a battery charger connected charging the main battery .z4 e 89 2012

I not sure, the engineer in me thinks not though. I would think the engine needs to be running.

I believe some people have had some success putting keys next to the charger for an electric toothbrush.

I've never tried it, but you've nothing to lose!

you can pick up a wireless charging mat from currys for about £20, worth a try. I cycle my keys, swapping them every month.

I do this while mine’s in hibernation, works for me very well.

That’s probably going to be more successful than brushing your teeth with an ignition key :P

Two  in quick succession.

It might work if it is a Braun as they have an induction charger - there is no metal to metal contact on them.

But it'll take some time. If my toothbrush is totally discharged it's still charging after 12 hours!

The problem was the rear view mirror faulty not receiving signal . Both keys where ok had to take car to a mechanic so I could have ended up getting new or repaired keys for nothing. Thanks for everyone s remarks .
