keyed - insurance or what?

A new and malignant scratch in Aldi half an hour ago.

Wing, door, and haunch. Bless. Scraped 1-1.5 mm wide of the top coat off with white showing through the Black Sapphire. Not to the metal. About 2 meters long altogether. I rang the old bill and they said their CCTV wasn't going to be useful.

So what's it going to cost? Do I use insurance or a body shop or chips away?

I am not really upset, the money is going to be hard to part with but I always see keyed cars as a sign of personal success, the perp proves the utter pointlessness of their lives by attacking my clearly superior status. Ha what a loser.

Anyway..
Advice appreciated.

Edit - irony alert - I had called in to town to buy some wax and colour restorer. :)
I'm a very good shot, I have these at my disposal

hats off fin for such a positive attitude
+1. If you start to become more irate about, give us a shout. I'm sure we could easily rustle up a posse...

ray,

seriously the guns belong to my brother, he lives in canada...................and so do the weapons, and they are but a small part of his arsenal including several shot guns a duck gun with a 4 FOOT barrel and a winchester 33 rifle, just like john waynes. BTW he is quite sane.................the last time we spoke.

Fin, sorry mate......

Try a local Indy, as a cash job. I was amazed how much one near me charged when I had my front bumper done, and how he only wanted £450 for the bonnet and rear bumper (and that's taking them off and not painting in situ like a lot of repairers do....worth giving a few local to you a try. Good luck mate

Oh fin, feel for you, but your right, if you let it get to you then they have achieved what they set out to do......gits :poke:

:( Sad...

Are you in Buxton by the way ??

I know of a few decent bodyshops within 1/2 hour of you..

Sorry to hear this. You do right in not ranting about it as it won't fix it and the bill will be just the same.

Sounds like panel resprays to get it looking right.

yes, i have spent the morning touching it up with chipsaway sapphire black paint and it is now pretty much invisible, if you didn't know it was there, until you rewax the panels. Actually I quite like the detail work with a fine brush. The score has been filled to level the surface but once you add a high gloss sheen you realise that the depth of reflection of the clear coat makes it difficult to match the original.

ah well, it is tempting to leave it as is because having it resprayed and then it being keyed again would leave me well miffed.

Would be interested to see what it looks like. I scratched mine with the zip on my shorts on the filler cap and wing :(

Sorry to hear about that though, some nasty jealous petty people out their. Agree with you that their life is a pointless existence. Pathetic simple minded scum, they will never have anything nice in their life - ever!

Gggrrrrrr, I tell you what, if you could just catch them.
My Freelander2 got keyed not long after I had it :x

Sorry to hear this Fin.

Sorry to read this Fin. But as others and yourself have already said its pointless getting irate about it

Z(en)4?

Interested in seeing the photos when you have them. Am sure karma will pay whoever did this back in spades.
