I have been using the same key for the past 15 months of ownership without any problems, until yesterday when coming to lock the car after been driving and it wouldnt work !.....

Never experienced this before, so at present i have been using the spare, which is fine but any ideas why its suddenly decided to pack in ?....i have been trying it pretty much everywhere, so its not an interference issue and the spare key works fine.

I had the very same problem. Someone posted a solution to the problem which I didn't get a chance to try yet because I switched to the other key they gave me. Your key should automatically recharge when you put it in the ignition but for whatever reason it isn't.

Do you only drive short trips? You may need to get out for an extended drive to completely recharge (I know, it will be hard to do what with Spring and all.... :D )

At first thats what i thought, however its been ok for the last 15months doing the exact same journey ...and the other key seems fine ?..weird or what !

Had this yesterday with the key i'd been using for the last month, wife went to unlock the car and the alarm went off and the key wouldnt work! Got the spare and it was fine.
Reprogrammed both keys as per the last post in Jeff's link above (if you do only one key the other wont work, must change the frequency it operates on so you need to do both) but dont trust the key now so swapped the spare to the main key now.....will test the one that dropped the frequency in a week or 2. Wonder how long it needs to charge the battery?

You can replace the battery in the key, but its a cut the key open and a bit of soldering job apparently, worth a go if its completely dead:-
