I used Carkeyrepaircompany - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273540436092

£19.99 and no complaints about the service

I looked at this as they’re only 5 miles away from me. Contacted the seller and asked if I could drop my key off rather than post. Seller refused stating they only deal by post!
Quick google earth check has the property listed as an Indian takeaway??

I’ve just had my second key done and returned. No takeaway menu included in the envelope though😉

Does replacing the battery restore the range to more than 7 millimetres?

 Key came back next day and worked , but had a bad battery (and wouldn't hold the settings for the car).

This was replaced by CarKeyKing/Keys2U along with emails back and forth telling me what he was doing etc. Great service.

2nd Key working fine. I would use them again.

Good shout.

Just clicked the link only to read: "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."
My spare had also stopped working remotely, so I bought the correct replacement battery, split the key case and fitted it but, alas it still would not work.
So ,in other words (I'm now thinking), if you replace the battery, you also have to have the key recoded to make it work remotely?

No thats not the case, key should work if the battery is replaced unless there is another issue :headbang:

Ok. Thanks for the reply.

I found it quite easy to change the battery.

Order the rechargeable battery from Aliexpress, cut the fob open with a sharp blade, desolder / resolder battery, super glue all back together, mask BMW logo & blade, spray case with matt black. Then place on toothbrush charger overnight for good measure.

Cost about £5, looks almost new.

Very good service here - reopair and / or just refurbish = good as new.
