Key replacement

Hey!

When I got my car, the battery was on it's arse, so I had a go at replacing it, and..well, it didn't go well. Now, I have a key with no battery and wrapped in selotape.

Has anyone had any experience in getting a new key? What is involved? A few people have mentioned it costing £250 - is this right?!

Seems a lot cheaper than dealer, but depends where you are as the chap is based in east London I think.
