Key / Remote Locking

hihi!

Something that's increasingly starting to bug me - the range on my car key's remote lock/unlock seems incredibly short, i don't seem to be able to do it outside of a few paces of the car - is this normal? I think in my old Saab or my friends E90/E46 bimmers they are basically able to blip it from across an entire car park (making things like follow me home/find me lights worthwhile).

what's the range on your remote, and is mine working correctly?

I think i've tested both keys with the same outcome, i was also told they charge when used but using them doesn't seem to have improved anything?

Mine is very poor! especially the boot:mad: compare to my E39 which will lock and unlock the car from my back bedroom :D

The latest thing for crooks is to capture your wireless key code as you use it in the parking lot and then use the code to steal your car or its contents. You should be glad that it is so weak !
 
cool - reassuring, don't want to find one day that it doesnt work at all and that the battery had been dying. Glad it's normal .. kinda!
 
Yup mine's the same, unlock seems to be 1.5-2m at most and somehow lock works over a longer distance. I enabled the acoustic & visual arm/disarm to reassure me.
 
Didn't know there was a beep option. I've turned on some lighting options so i get orange lights on lock, white lights on unlock - using my Intravee II.
