key problem

I have two keys to my 2007 coupe, all the functions work with the one key. Doors lock, doors open, alarm arms. The second key will open the car and switch off the alarm but it will not lock the doors or set the alarm so I am only using the one key because when I lock the door I have to use the door lock but this does not arm the alarm. I have used both keys when driving to charge up the misbehaving one but it still won't work as it should, have any other forum members had a similar problem?.

Probably just a problem with the lock button function on the key... have you tried using some wd40 or similar? Otherwise you could always cut the key up and try put it in a newer shape key? Certainly wouldn’t hurt if it’s basically useless anyway?

If the key battery goes below a specific charge level, then the only remote key function working will be unlocking the car and disarming the alarm.

The key needs to be charged and then used at least 5 times. (Put the key in ignition and switch it from 0 to 1 at least 5 times)

After this, all the remote function of the key should work again.

Never heard this, but if it is indeed low on battery and needs to be charged have you used an electric tooth-brush charger? Have a quick google :) apparently the charging is the same as when its in the car. There are some youtube vids as well I'm sure

I tried the key charge by sitting my key on my toothbrush charger and left it in place for about 8 hours, this had no effect at all on the problem with the key. off to see an auto locksmith as soon as it's healthy to do so, thanks for ideas on how to solve my problem from forum members.
