key fob came apart and now it won't start the car

My fob came apart. I assembled it with the circuit board / battery orientation the wrong way. I then flipped the circuit board over and assembled it again. It locks and unlocks the car. However, it will not start the car when I turn the key in the ignition. My other key will start the car.

Any thoughts??

Did the little transponder fall out?
Battery part locks and unlocks it, but to start the engine the car sends a signal to a transponder in the key and has to get the correct answer back,

enuff_zed is probably correct you have lost the small rectangle chip transponder that sits inside the key fob. If you can search where the fob fell open you may be lucky and find it. If you do put it back inside the fob and secure it in there with some glue so it doesn't happen again.

Can you tell by these photos if something is missing??

Yes that's the transponder chip that should be lying in a recess inside the fob, check both sides of the fob but expect it's under the PCB that is there for central locking system. They are two separate systems within the key fob.
