Key / Car Memory settings query

Hi All,

Having recently purchased my 2007 Z4MC, I decided I wanted to make some amendments to the key/car memory settings at my local BMW dealer at a cost of £50. Firstly they printed out what options were available on my car. After reviewing the options I decided I wanted to enable 3 blink indicator, auto lock at 5 mph and daytime running lights.

However I drove home home and realised that daytime running lights were not on so I took it back to the dealership and apparently the technician said that although it is an option on the print out from my car, not all of these cars were able to have them turned on. I was also advised that DRL would be printed on the light switch, if I could have it on, which doesn't sound right to me. Do any of you have any experience of this. I know it might not sound like much of a pain, but I cant help but feel that I am being fobbed off, because they couldn't be bothered to sort it out the 2nd time I went to the dealership.

Thanks for any advice offered.

I thought the drl option was to leave the light in the 1 position and it would stay on all the time, and go off when the car was switched on?

I had it enabled on my car too... But it never lit just the halo up, which is what i wanted.

Hi, Do you mean just putting the side lights on? From my understanding DRL is just the halo lights at the front, but the rear side lights should not be on. Mind you I may need to stand corrected :?

Myself and Bing have DRL enabled both ///M's through our Intravee which does the Angel eyes only. I tried coding as per BMW but nothing.

Thanks for the response, forgive my ignorance, but I thought the Intravee was just for ipod connection, how can this configure DRL? Also what else can it do, as I may need to invest

for DRL to work you need a suitably need LCM module, not all zeds have (much in the same was a e46 m3s do/dont)

easiest way is as people said to code through intravee, it has a large number of features over and above just ipod integration :)

How about getting one of these: http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-Z4-E85-Tagfahrlicht-Chirpmodul-ComingHome-/231166619355?pt=DE_Autoteile&fits=Make%3ABMW%7CModel%3AZ4&hash=item35d29aaedb

They are up for auction on the German ebay once a week. I got lucky last week and got mine for 78 Euro.

You can find more info here on the board if you search for "xcarstyle".

Food for thought!!! cheers :) I would possibly look for the Intravee, but cant seem to find it for sale in stock :( If anyone has Intravee, can you please let me know if I can use and iPhone 5 with the lightning adaptor, as I can only see photos with the older style 30 pin connection.

For that price you are better getting the Intravee.

Bit more on the extra features of the Intravee

For that price??? I paid a little over 60 pounds for it... an Intravee is like 3 times as much... I don't think it's fair to compare those two products....

I only saw 150 euro, didn't pickup you got for a lower price. If the OP is after iPod integration though Intravee would be his best bet looking at what else he is trying to do.

I turned on my halos as DRL using NCSExpert to set the following:
GED_FL_ALS_DRL - DIMMED HIGH BEAMS AS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS = Aktiv

Whenever the key is in the on position the halos light up. They are really dim in daylight. :x

The below pics are when I was comparing LED halo bulbs(left side of pic) to stock bulbs.
