Key Battery Alarm??

Hi all, i have just purchased a 2.5 2003 with 64k on the clock,
when i took it for a test drive i was told it would need new key batteries (yes i know it's not that simple)
so i have been to BM and apart from telling me it's £110 plus for a new key, they tested the car (diagnosis price £90) and it requires a new interior mirror/antenna and a relay in ZKE? (locking) module! At the price of £950 Yes NINE HUNDRED (starting to wish i bought a nissan zx now)
Sod BM, So Can i have an aftermarket alarm fitted because the alarm will not work without the key fob working? Or will an aftermarket alarm interfere with the alarm fitted on the car already? If aftermarket alarm can be fitted can anyone recommend one under £950 would be good!!!! Thanks lots Col. xxxxx

Your dealer was wrong. Try other dealers. I don't think a fully programmed key from BMW dealer will cost more than £300.

Did you get this fixed as I have the same issue (although BMW have not quoted so much for a new zke (£450)
