Key Batteries and charging

I have the comfort access option so understood from the manual (p28) that my key fob battery is not rechargeable but needs to be replaced.

A few months ago I had a warning on the iDrive that the battery was low so I replaced it. All was OK again. However, this week while away in Germany I had the low battery warning again and as I did not have immediate access to a replacement (maybe the one I put in was old?) I put the key into the 'ignition slot' while driving a few hundred miles. Thereafter, the battery warning went away and days later all is still good!!! So question, is there only 1 battery in the key fob with comfort access that has to be replaced or are there 2 batteries - 1 rechargeable and 1 to be replaced? Or can the 'normal' batteries be recharged?

Only one battery which needs replacing...I used to think it charged when inserted but it doesn't of course

Only one battery, had to replace mine recently as warning came up. P.33 in the manual tells all

I know what the manual states but as I said in my original post after putting my key in the 'ignition slot' the low battery warning stopped and it has not come back over a week later!! So maybe a spurious warning, but I do not think so as when I opened the drivers side door when my key's battery was supposed to be low the seat moved to my wife's driving position as her keys were with her on the passenger side so it appeared that the car sensed this alternative set of keys instead of mine. All correct since the fob was 'charged'………………….
