I don't think you can really have too much as long as the radiator still gets air. I'm not sure about teh cutout youve made to accomodate the V bar - I imagine that would negate a large portion of the scooping?

Here's mine that I made:

I've had the scoop on for months now. I can't confidently say it does anything but it was fun to make and the idea of it is neat so it's stayed on :P

Mmm probably tried to get to much, was playing with the idea of a second panel to fill that gap as well........but then I was even looking at a second air scoop :)

Finally got parts sorted and fitted after first track day on standard brakes  can't wait to try these out

Seats next job

Very carried away haha, that will be great on the track though! It's pretty tricky getting in an out already with regular seats though haha

I ain’t small either

just looking at resistors to keep SRS lights off when I remove seats and belts :|

Well those seats were to wide even when they were hard against tunnel the wings still hit the doors :(

So had to buy another pair, they still touch doors and they are a popular buy for MX5 owners apparently :o

Also decided if I was going down that route a may as well try and lighten the car

:D yeah i know, track day on Monday so after that or maybe over the winter door cards to come off, possibly centre console, front carpet and still toying with completely removing soft top roof

Mounts were off fleabay, to get door to close you need to reverse the mounts to put them as close to the tunnel as possible but this throws out the mounts the other side so i made some plates to adapt them, i think the e36 has the same problem but i have seen specific mounts for them where one bracket is twice the width at the floor and twice the price!

Well after bringing car back from where i keep my trailer she spewed over a pint of water out from n/s sound although i can't see where it's coming from i'm presuming header tank (aftermarket ordered)

While looking for water leak took a quick gander at air con compressor ready for air con delete it appears to be very straight forward with nothing else running of the belt :D

Picked up a new set of wheels yesterday as i need a spare set really for track days BUT bargain of the year :!:
18"x8.5 £225 brand new :o worth the 90 minute drive each way :driving:

So new header tank fixed water leak, coil stick fixed misfire that had started, new stainless ebay exhaust fitted :D
Air con delete done, big space there now

How much weight did the aircon save?

Also being you have the 3.0i and from the looks of it planning to run it hard, any plans to do anything about the oil pump nut?

I've been doing a bit of reading on it again as I am heading to the track next month with mine and resolved that its a rare/bad luck issue since the reports/discussion of it pretty much stopped after 06/07.

The Z's also got the updated dampener (tho my car had a transplant at some point during last ownership so I'll have to check ) which supposedly helped alleviate the issue bar extreme cases. Extreme cases being lightens fly wheel + 7k rpm limit etc.

I'll be planning to keep mine well under 6k rpm as I'm not chasing times as I am just a casual :P

Interested to hear more thoughts!

Didn't weigh air con bits should've really :(

No nothing of oil pump nut issue

Done 2 track days with it, Cadwell was soooo much fun :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hIL7eTYRCg&t=158s

Unfortunately i like timing being an ex bike racer brings that out i think, on the other hand how do you know if you're improving?

I've been in the higher realms of the rpm without any issues so far, think it would really benefit from 3.64 diff though :?

As weather is turning I've got some new decent rubber so that i can do a few more trackdays this year, brake backplates have just arrived so will be running ducting from foglight apertures to them next.

On the N52, aircon compressor, pipework, and radiator add up to 9.2kg.

M54 should be +/- 200g I would think.
