Kerbed alloys - permission to scream please

I really feel for you, It's so depressing and you will allways know that its there..... I would get it done

Well either live with it or get a good mobile repair firm on the case if you're worried about the hassle .... did my offside front a few months back, all on the outside edge like yours and they repaired it for £50...... took the guy under an hour and looks like new.....
 
Is that tyre flat as well? If so, it must have been some 'hit' :?

that's just the ludicrously-low profile tyres on the 19in tyres. it was a very low speed kerbing because i was trying to be careful... didn't want to scrape passenger side. oh the irony

not sure about bmw dealership refurbing from some other threads i've read. And Nick...seriously once a month on RR??? :!:
 
Did you take out alloy wheel insurance when you bought the car? The wheel repair will be covered.

Yup, my RRS had 22'' wheels....each month at least 2 wheels at £75 each. OCD is my middle name :(
 
I (like others) feel your pain and have done this on entering my local airport more than once! :cry:

I subscribe to the 'broken window theory' - particularly when it comes to cars.

If your car is not pristine, others take less care, you get more parking dings etc.

I'd get it fixed. At £100 it's surely a 'no-brainer' brain girl! :D
 
I feel your pain.. having done my first wheel a month or two ago in a a multi storey....

I got quotes of around £60 to refurb mine... however like you it wasnt the cost but the hassle of getting it to them... as i work abroad during the week...

In the end i got some metal filler and filled, sanded and painted it myself to disguise it.. which is barely visible now... but when i get the time i will get it professionally fixed.

Personally for you i would leave it a few months... while you get used to the size of your car.. then if you get any more curbs you can fix them all in one go.
 
gutted for you. I'd get em sorted out pronto and shop elsewhere as suggested!
I've clunked the kerb a couple of times and gingerly got out to check the damage...thankfully my 104 and F452 combo offers plently of protection and I've got away with it so far.

Interesting... any particular "shade" of silver or is it just plain silver? Mine are kerbed to bits at the moment but can't be bothered to get them fixed... could probably be bothered to give them a quick paint though :)
 
The guy at BMW used a Titanium Silver touch up pen on my little faux pas, seems to cover it up a bit
 
i used a silver touch up pen i had lying around from my old celica... not an exact match... but close enough.. adding lacquer on top seems to darken/ grey silver.
 
Leave it for now. It'll never match if some place recondition it... unless they are really good. Are they really good? Can they offer a money back guarantee if us forum lot can't tell the difference?

As they say sh£t happens :) .Just think it could have been worse and you could have damaged the bodywork.
Get it sorted and just try to be a wee bit more carefull :driving: :) .
 
If it makes you feel better I kerbed almost the entire front passenger side wheel just before the weekend. I couldn't see it as I parked as it looked like leaves but underneath was a partly collapsed drain, as I rolled in to the space it gave way under the weight of the car pulling the wheel right against the huge kerb. There was no screaming but definitely a small tear and a few choice words! I will be getting mine refurbed next week as can't bear them not looking perfect.

Nick I know your pain on the Rangie, my wife has 22" stomers on hers and they didn't last a week before all four were dinged :headbang: . I won't be rushing to fix these though as I would be my house on them being knocked the day after the repair...
 
Nightmare! I used these guys when I did a similar amount of damage to my girlfriend's A3 alloy...

Phil's based in Kingston, he came round and did the wheel in his van in an hour for around £50... couldn't tell where I'd hit it once he'd finished!!

UPDATE:

Have had the wheel refurbed.
The finish is pretty perfect- and can't tell where the damage was now (except for the some marks on tyre wall)

I think it helped that the paintwork is all quite new, so that the respray looks identical to the the other wheels.

From what I hear, they are the preferred contractors for Aston Martin, BMW and Porsche in the Surrey region.
