Kerbed 19" alloys! help!

Normally it would cost 40 quid but for the sake of a tenner go to the dealer. I wouldnt worry about long term damage, it is a common thing and easily fixed if its just slightly kerbed. I did the same to my 3 series a week after having it but got it repaired and had no issues since.

Hey there, nice looking Zed.

My girlfriend kerbed two of the alloys within the first month of owning the Zed, decided to wait a bit long until I fix them, just in case. I did call my dealer to get a quote though to fix the same 19's that you have and he said the 19's that we have are diamond cut, and they aren't able to repair these anymore. Asked him how much he thought it would cost to fix elsewhere. He said about £140 each wheel, I nearly fell off my chair. Will look forward to hear how you get on.

be aware that most dealers get outside companies to come in and repair alloys.

when i asked a ford dealer about refurbing my focus alloys, they told me the name and number of the company they use. it was a guy in a van.

the finish was decent, but it wasn't perfect.

Ouch that sounds painful, I don't think mine are diamond cut ,which by the sound of it is a good thing from a repairing point of view.

I've emailed the dealer to ask them if they can quote me for a full refurb (as £50 is just for the edges).

I looked at the BMW alloy insurance small print and it only covers it if the damage is less then 15cm but my scratches are longer. So buying that insurance would have been a total waste of money anyway.

Id go to the dealers mate, atleast then you know it will be done by BMW approved bodyshop. Also you should be offered a BMW loan car while they do it.

£40 is unbelievably cheap for a full wheel refurb which would be the way I'd go. My previous car was 6 months old when I bought it and has a small kerb mark which the dealer sorted with a smart repair. Within 18 months the repair started to fail with flaking paint.

I full re furb should involve stripping the complete wheel back to bare alloy and then re painting and lacquering etc. If you do go to the dealer I'd ask who will be carrying out the work as many dealers sub contract wheels to refurb specialists in which case it may be cheaper to go direct and cut out the dealer

Hope you get it sorted

A decent refurb company will fix that as new. You will never know.

I had some sort of impact on the dish of one of my 326s when it was a couple of months old. It was like a crater.

I was put intouch with a refurb company and they sorted it and 2 years on it's 100% and i'm mega fussy.

Don't bother with the dealer go to the detailing world forum and ask about a decent refurb company in your area.

Your old man should swallow and stump up for a new alloy-------

Why ?

A repair done by a pro will be just fine and will bring it back as new!
You don't think for one minute that when a demostrator get a damaged wheel that they rush to the stores fo a new rim???

All fixed now! :D

The car had gone into the dealer for the roof seal gap anyway and they quoted £50 for the wheel repair. I later found out the price excluded VAT, they also charged me £12 for the insurance of the loan car I had over night. All together I paid £74. But the job is immaculate, as new, very pleased.
