Kept the shiny side up today at the track

A handful of shots from a track event today held at Portland International Raceway. Had a whole bunch of fun and was happily surprised at how well the 3.0si did in pure stock form. I think my only complaint is that the pedals feel like they are too closely spaced for my size 10 1/2 EEEE shoes and I had to make a point of keeping my foot as far left on the brakes as possible so the side of my foot wasn't also on the gas at the same time.

Hot pit area - it wasn't a completely dry day:

Various shots from the track. Obviously I wasn't the photographer :D The photographer was shot the event was seriously in to his odd angled shots - these are more horizontal than most of what he shot:

Great shots!!

Who was holding the track event? It looks like the local BMW ACA club is going have their first DE of the season late April. I'm going to try to get out there for that event. It will be my first.

I know April is still a ways out, but would you be at that DE event?

I "hate" driving with a helmet on though, it spoils my fun ...

This event was held by the NW chapter of the Audi Club. I used to drive Audi S4s for my track cars starting just over 7 years ago and am still a member of the club.

I will be instructing at all of the BMW ACA events events this year and the first open one will be in late April and another one 3 weeks after that. I haven't decided whether I will drive at all of those or not yet but I will be there in either case.

At the speeds we drive out at the track you want to have a helmet on. I have grown so used to having mine on when out on the track I don't even thing about it anymore.

Oh no...I've fallen in love with your car all over again!

This must be hard on you when you have so many silver coupes to swoon over lately :D

Wow - a highly tempting offer to be sure and from the sounds of it this could be quite the spectator sport 8)

It would be in very serious need of a TLC wash job if I did drive it all 2700 miles to HC :driving: so maybe the spectators would get a nice show out of it

Alan,

Cool, It's good to hear you'll be instructing at the track events. I sent in my membership app for the BMW ACA in Portland over the weekend. I'm getting psyched up about participating in the DE day on April 28. I still need to figure out if I can fit all 6'3" of me with a helmet in the car. Do you have any suggestions on a local retailer that has a selection of SA rated helmets I could try on with my coupe there? I'd prefer to buy my first helmet f2f rather than take my chances online.

btw, I plan on going to this month's club meeting next week at the new Lamborghini dealer. Are you going to make it? You can't knock free pizza.

Competition Motorsports should have a good selection of helmets. You definitely want to be able to try it on because it simply has to fit correctly in order for it to work. If not them then it is worthwhile to drive up to Seattle and check out Speedware. Excellent selection up there to work with.

I will be at the Gran Prix Imports meeting next week. They have a lot of interesting cars - Panoz, Spyker, Bentley's, Aston Martins, and lots more. Last year we met there in January and I almost wrote a check on the spot for a really tasty Cayman-S with about 5K miles. I came home and researched the car, started looking at the ///M Coupe and by the end of the month ordered my 3.0si Coupe instead. My poor old Honda S2k never got the time of day out of me once I had plopped my ass down in the Cayman seats at Gran Prix. I decided on the spot that I wanted to go back to German luxury instead of the Japanese import.
