Just so I don't mess this up tomorrow, if I'm coming from the Hogs Back onto the A3 will I see the lay-by easily on the way?

Yeh you will. Once you are onto the A3 continue all the way towards the M25 you will see a large(ish) brown signpost labelled "Wisley R.H.S Garden", take that exit and the layby is right there. It's about a mile or 2 short of the M25 junction.

If I am coming, from the M25, I need to come off at an exit and go back on myself to make the Wisley turn?

From the M25 - take the A3 southbound towards Portsmouth, come off at the first junction (not the first turning..), do a full loop and head back towards the M25. It's the first turning on the left (the layby is kind of part of the A3 onramp). I reckon it'l take about 2-3 mins from the M25 to get to that layby.
Departure at 6:30 sharp, if you're arriving after 6:30 continue on to the meet. Shame it's the 50mph average camera zone on that stretch of the M25 - we can all practice convoy driving
