Karbonius CF reproduction of standard S54 plenum **PROTOTYPE VIDEO**

@///MBan please remove me from the list. Appreciate your effort in getting it all the way through. After some back and forth, I am going for the full CSL carbon box either from Karbonious or Geoff Steel. Thanks again.

No worries - thanks for letting me know.

I still don't have a firm production / delivery date but I can confirm the price will be 1,280 Euro and that people will purchase directly through Karbonius's website.

Also, two reinforcement pillars have been used (just like their CSL airbox).

Karbonius has just confirmed production starts next week. The price they have provided - 1,280 Euro - is a once-off for people on the list and will subsequently be $1,395 Euro. You will need a unique coupon to get the introductory price, which will be entered when you order on their website. I will send Karbonius the list and they will provide the coupons, which I will then send to individuals.

I've tried to contact as many people as possible who previously expressed an interest and I'm pretty sure the list is up-to-date but please check:

https://www.zpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=29291402&postcount=150

Delivery dates will depend on how many people place an order. As I understand it, you can make x plenums from one mould before it breaks or becomes unusable. So, depending on numbers they may need to make a second mould, which will take some time.

I am still very interested but i wanted to hear it with an eventuri first. Are they still sending the prototype to you for testing?

They are going to send me the first production version. So, I won't be receiving it that much before everyone else. Once I have the plenum, I'll test it as quickly as I can, but it could be a few weeks after they become available to purchase (I'm in Australia, so delivery will be a couple of weeks).

Ok that's annoying i assumed they were going to let you test it for them first.

If i go on the list is there a commitment to buy?

Id like to personally see how you get on after testing before I commit 100%

Putting your name on the list doesn't mean you have to buy one, but this stage is intended to lock down numbers with a reasonable degree of certainty so Karbonius can plan production. Having watched the videos to set expectations, if you feel like there's a good chance you will buy one as long as it doesn't turn out to be a total fizzer, I'd suggest putting your name down. Up to you, though :)

UPDATE: Karbonius will email the coupons to people, so if you put your name on the list, I will be sending PMs to ask for your email address. If you don't get a message from me, please get in touch!

Quick update:

I passed on a few more questions to Karbonius, which they are addressing.

One person asked if forged carbon is possible for the plenum, with the answer being 'no'.

Another person asked if it is possible to test the plenum to make sure it doesn't result in a loss of power, which Karbonius is going to do.

A few people also wanted someone to test the plenum before buying and Karbonius thinks that's a good idea before making it available. They will send the first one to me and I'll test and report back.

Great idea and a dyno run is also a good idea. Fingers crossed this all works out :)

Some good news: the first production plenum has shipped and is on its way to me.

I'm hoping to do some side-by-side testing with a local E46 M3 owner who has a CSL-style intake.

Karbonius also has a plenum on their E46 and are putting some km on it.

Karbonius has said the plenum will be available today on their website and I have sent through the email list to them. If you're on the list, you should receive your discount code soon.

Today they also tested the plenum on the dyno and found it was +4HP, but noted that this is not really significant but certainly looks like there is no loss.

I hope to install mine this weekend and do some testing. With a bit of luck I'll post up some video before next week.

Sounds good, keep us updated mate.

Not worried about the BHP mainly increased sound but its nice to know 4 bhp has been achieved either way

I started the installation yesterday but unfortunately I'm missing the bracket for the underside of the plenum that attaches to a rubber mount for one of the air hoses. It'll be a little while until I get one sent to me, so I won't have any results / impressions for a couple of weeks. Others may be able to post results sooner.

Oh ok that’s a shame but understandable.

I understand one other plenum has already shipped, so that person may actually be able to give us all the update we want!

Michael, thanks for the updates. Did Karbonius provide you with a fitting guide for the plenum? If not, does anyone know of a decent Youtube guide for it? The muffler clamps look interesting to remove...

Cheers
