Kangaroo

Quite often when pulling away from stationary in 1st, when I change up to 2nd the car will do what I call Kangaroo moves - it surges for a second, then slows down then surges again, probably about 1 or 2 seconds intervals.

To stop it I have to put the clutch in and then let it out gently.

Is this due to the clutch delay valve (that i’ve read about on here) or is it me being a rubbish driver?

Almost certainly the CDV

My old 3.0 was like night & day after I had it done, even the Indy who did it said was surprised just what a difference it made.

Got it in March.

Doesn't do it all the time, just catches me out when it does.

I put it down to letting the clutch out too quickly, which is why i'm asking if these are symptoms of the CDV.

Clutch doesn't slip when accelerating, so I don't think its due to that wearing out.

The engine sounds fine, its not coughing and spluttering etc.

Knowing if it is the CDV will put my mind at rest, even if I decide to live with it.

Jembo - did yours do this?

Will BMW remove the CDV or is it an indy job? What would be a rough price, and is it easy to put back if I wanted? (not a diy for me)

A bit of practice & you’ll find a way.

You’ll need an Indy not BMW to do a CDV delete, although there’s a couple of fab write ups on here what needs to be done if ur handy with spanner’s & a drill
