Can someone explain what the sound generator is please. I have heard that it might be a muffler in the exhaust? 3.0i is in the garage on friday so if I can get them to remove it all - i will! Thanks

Brilliant, thanks CJ10. After looking at a number of other Z4 forums to try and find a solution to not being able to open the stuck closed bonnet I managed to by removing the grille, WD40ing the release mechanism, and then prising the bonnet release with a screw driver!

I found the 'sound generator' and managed to release the pipe from the air box where it meets the firewall. I removed a piece of foam 10-12cm long. The sound at +5000rpm at full accelerator is incredible - really loud and much more like the sound I want -almost too loud in fact! Where can I find the second piece of foam though? (I couldn't prise the top end of the pipe from the air box, is it there?)

Entwistlea - I reccomend you try this mod before investing in anything else - I bet your car has a blanking plug where the pip would go into the firewall - it seems to go into where the fuse box is below the glove box.

Now onto the tramlining and poor ride - I've heard getting Falken Fk452s can sort this out - any experience anyone?
