Just thinking out loud....

I think i remember a guy on here or PH who had the roof on his coupe removed and a CF one stuck in its place. The roof was a non-structural part as all the stress went through the bodyshell and the roof was just a non load bearing skin.

With this is mind surely it can't be that hard to sort out some kind of targa roof panel type affair?

Don't want to start a massive coupe/roadster debate :D

From an engineering perspective I'd be interested to see the evidence for that 'non-structural' assertion before picking up a tin opener......I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you have that conversation with your insurer LOL

Sixspeed was the one who removed the roof and replaced with a CF panel.

That is a like for like providing similar strengths, so not a logical next step to a targa ...

Where did he get it done PVR? I assume it was a professional job with proper bonding etc..?

He did it himself. Let me see if I can find the posts for that.

Did fine this one: http://www.ca-automotive.co.uk/single_prod-cHJvZF9pZD0xODQ3.html

And here is sixspeeds post about his:

:o Did not know that about sixspeed's motor.... mighty impressed.

OP - Not going to start on the coupe/roadster banter (good idea posting that  ). Keep us updated if you do decide to change the roof, would be a VERY interesting mod

I have to say I can't honestly see the real-world benefit? I mean according to one of those articles, a 5kg weight reduction on a 2.0 litre vehicle equates to about 1.5hp extra....probably a lot less on an M given its power. Surely a bit of Fablon would have done the trick much more cheaply.....

Thanks for the links pvr, Sixspeeds car does look lush in white with the CF roof.

I should say i'm currently a 3.0 roadster owner but seem to find myself browsing Z4MC's alot recently. And before anyone says its i know i should just get a Z4MR lol.

Just an idea anyway, i'll go back to day dreaming about karmann ghia's with 911 running gear, and V8 e24's etc etc
