Lovely car Lucy! Auto box seems like a good idea for such a good engine anyway. And you get a coupe and roadster all in one. I think its a better car to live with TBH.

And I think it might be if it were 12 months old and probably with a manual box. I don't want to buy an auto and then wish i'd held off a bit until I came across a manual.
Plus, the more I look at my Coup, the sexier it gets. I would seriously miss it. I don't think I can say goodbye to it just yet! After driving it places over the weekend, I compared it to the 35 i'd drove on Friday and they are a very different beast. I don't think I need the extra comfort of the 35 just yet... there's still more fun to be had in the coup and I know i'd miss it's raw edge.
So there we have it, i'll not be changing it just yet. But if I do come across the perfect 35i on a 59 or 60 plate, then I may have to look into it again. In the meantime I think I will treat myself to a private reg and a new pair of shoes instead

They're really different cars and if you like the "rawness of the E85 and are happy with it great. No doubt the E89 would make a far more useable comfotable everyday driver though. Price is a bit steep though. I think you're spot on your decision there.
Lucy, did you put it in sport+ and give the paddles a go ?? I love the DCT in mine, grab the shifter and upshift around a corner then paddle shift after I've finished turning the wheel, it's brilliant. My Z3 is a manual box and I like it too but I never have to think about heel toe in the Z4

Good decision, it can be tempting in these kind of situations to just go for it untill you put your sensible head on and realise how much you will loose and so quickly on a nearly new car. I am also toying with the idea of a 35i but it would need to be at least 1 1/2 - 2 years old so it isn't so painful. I deliberately haven't test driven one yet in case I suddenly feel that I must replace my Coupe which I only got last October.
The other thing to consider is how much it will cost to run compared to the 3.0si Coupe with the current worrying petrol prices and the effect they have on residuals. Why does car ownership have to be so expensive, wouldn't it be great if car values didn't pummet so fast so we could chop and change without so much guilt.

Just a note re MPG in a 35i..... I get 34mpg on the highway at reasonable speeds. It's been remapped to over 385hp and the fuel consumption is surprisingly low at close to the 70mph limits on long highway runs. Considerably lower if I put the right foot down a bit...

That's great economy for such a powerfull engine at motorway speeds, but knowing me if I had that much power I would have to put my foot down every now and again for the buzz. Out of interest what kind of average consumption do you get and what kind of driving do you do so I can put it in context? My 3.0si does about 36 mpg on the motorway if I am gentle with the gas but on average I get 28-31 mpgs depending on what i do week to week.
i havent read all of this thread but 42k for a 35i with 5k on the clock with red leather....... after searching for 1 minute on autotrader, i found one with the same mileage and red leather with a dealer for 31k..... i know its black but i'm sure the 11k saving would more than make up for it and if not, get it wrapped for 2k. its a recession for gods sake!!!

Sorry for hijacking but just had to comment on the GT6 in the signature of this post. Is this not the coolest car? WOW. Love it.
Back to the idea of changing the Coupe to the white 11 plate - yes that would be a little strange - and for an extra £28K for a car that looks less interesting. No thank you.
