No Tax isnt a big issue (for me), but no MOT means no insurance, which is then getting into bigger issues, especially if somebody else gets hit.

I don't know where Ronk is getting his information from.. I have Mot and also insurance. Let me prove him wrong

From here - info accessed 01/01 2016

Its up to you if you want to correct them - If it was me in this position I would - Who knows which information is issued.

The first years ved was £650 and it the car was only used sept and oct. I wonder if I will get 10/12 of the £650 duty and then pay the normal £295 full year rate in march ?

The dvla / gov web site doesn't make it clear.

worth trying it

You are not getting back first year registration fee.

So you will get back 10/12 of £295

The Dvla site says that if you buy part way thro the first year the normal rates (£295 for the 35is)

The dealers invoice calls the £650 showroom tax while the BMW calls it first year VED

I've just received the Dvla cheque, £270 - 41p
No explanation how the amount was calculated of course!

I hope in March the standard one year rate applies.

Odd amount.

I can't work it out - There must be an element of ved and an element of buying a dirty polluting car but I can't see how that amount has been calculated.

First year punishment was £650
Normal / year rate £295
Showroom tax £355
The car was used for two months

If anybody has any ideas i will be pleased to hear them.
