Just scuffed my neighbours bumper (Not a euphemism)

So while reverse parking in my normal space, I scuffed my neighbours front bumper on the corner.

Obviously left a note and have contacted chips away and another local repair firm.

It is a mint condition 2013, 3 series, msport. I'm gutted.

What do you reckon the price will / should be?
(his car not mine, the golf has no damage???)

Ouch. It doesn’t look dented and it’s all on one panel, so looks as though it’s a sand back and paint job. I’ve had these done by chips away-type firms usually quoting 120-150 per panel with good results. Sometimes if there’s a dent on a crease line they won’t want to fix it, or caution that the repair won’t be perfect.

Girl did that to my Z4M about 4 years ago, it cost just over 200 pounds to get fixed at my local bodyshop, however that's Highlands prices and a bit of a discount for her because she was a nurse.

Around 200 if it's Chip's Away, they did a front bumper repair to my old Hyundai last year which was a fill and localised respray, think it came to 240 so if just paint 150 to 200 I would have thought.

Tim.

My lad had a front wing done on his Fiesta ST by Chips-Away. Was £180 plus VAT.
That was to repair a patch about 100mm round, and re-lacquer the whole wing.
That'll teach him not to leave pigeon sh*t on the car for a fortnight!

Yes, as others have said, any decent shop or door step repair should have that done for under £200.

I wouldn't accept a smart repair on it though, just in case of any issues down the line. I would be insisting on a full bumper respray by a very reputable body shop. I had my bumper sprayed to address the stone chips - it was £300 two yrs ago, and that's Yorkshire prices. I would have a figure of £350 in your head if I were you.

I have to agree I'm with the above. The exact thing happened to me a couple of months back. Neighbour backed in to me and scuffed up my front bumper. There was no way I was accepting a smrt repair on it

Seen x 2 chips away repairs for neighbours and after that initial year or so neither looks great, at all. Proper bodyshop repair on my mx5 and that looked as good as new 5 years later.
Bit of a false economy in my view.

The problem with Chips Away is that it is a franchise, so the quality of the job you get depends entirely on the abilities of the owner of the franchise where you live.

I had a couple of bits done by them on my 1 Series and was more than happy with the end result.

Certainly are a mix of reviews online and here so this would make sense. The operators certainly had plenty of kit in the way of gazebos over the vehicles / uv lights, compressors and plenty of time on the job as it were so not rushed and looked v good for a while...others will have a much better experience of course

I had one on an Alfa Spider and depending on how the car was Parked, you could not see the job but park it slightly different and you could see a clear line where the paint was applied - half way along the wing, from top to bottom - shockingly bad job

So finally had a call from the owner, he wants to have a chat on Tuesday evening and wants to go through the insurance.

It is his perogative, but a bit over kill for scuff on a 2013 car.

Will I lose my NCB for such a minor claim against me?

You shouldn’t lose all your ncb but a percentage of it :?

I’d be tempted to get a quote from a reputable spray shop for that, as he doesn’t want a smart repair. I doubt it would cost much more than your excess even at somewhere pretty mainstream, not to mention the addition in premiums when you click “yes” to a claim.
