Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi, I've finally put the money down today on my first BMW, not collecting it for a week so thought I'd put some pics up to help pass the time. :)

If anyone knows the car or any history about it, would be great to know? Opinions welcome! :D

I've also got a little mk1 escort, always loved having rear wheel drive, just never had anything this new before. Will probably have to sell the Escort at some point, so if anyone fancies it, just let me know. :wink:

I passed my test in a white mk1 Escort 1300XL, it was Nov 1974 :cry:
To be honest I was more of a Capri type of guy (had 4) :oops:
 
Hi and welcome - glad to see you have made th right Zed choice first time - looks very nice

I love MK1 escorts - you should try to hold on to it as they are going up in price faster than property at the moment!! It looks fab too

If only I could justify buying the Escort. It seems as though Grumpyowl and I share a similar car background. My first car was an Escort 1100 which I bought in 1973 which was followed by 3 Capris.

Got a stubby installed so could have been a forum car in the past.

I too passed my test in an escort, my first car was the an owd capri, I must be far younger than Grumpyowl, RickRob, I did not do my test until early 80's
 
Very nice mate! Saw this on the classifieds when it was for sale. thought it was a good buy for someone and looked in great condition :thumbsup:

My first car was Mk1 Escort. It had a strange fault, after about 20 minutes of driving it would lose power so I would have to pull over wait for about 5 minutes then it would start again & be fine for the rest of the drive - never did get to the bottom of the problem. Had it about 18 months before it failed its MOT on too many faults. :(
 
Congratulations, perfect choice of a black Z4C - but then I may be biased! :thumbsup:
Keep the Escort - if I had some spare cash and somewhere to keep it I would love to buy it.
I must be at least as old as earlier posters - my driving instructor had a Mk1 Escort 1300XL, my first car was a Mk2 Cortina and I have also had a MK2 RS2000 and 2 Capri Injections!
Maybe we all buy BM's now because if you want RWD there is little other choice.

Seems there's a lot of us ex-Capri owners about. You can guess when I had mine if I tell you it was orange with a black roof. . . . and I was in flares! :lol:

Thanks for all the nice comments, the Coupe is in Black with black leather M seats and M steering wheel, brushed Ali dash, it's had a few small upgrades including Apple connection, stubby antenna, and a add on centre arm rest, (not so sure about the arm rest as it looks a little tacky). The main thing for me is that it's only done 44k with full history. Over the moon with finding it, just can't wait to collect!

It will be a shame to sell the escort, but unfortunately I have to keep it in a garage in Surrey so don't get to see it very often and can't justify having another 2 seater car, plus the escort is more of a pure sports car with coil over suspension all round, 2.0 engine, LSD, and just to make it really light the doors, wings, Bonnet and boot lid are all fibreglass, ally floors and rear firewall. It goes like a bat out of hell on the street, but not exactly any good for going for a long drive, plus it's an old ford so it always brakes down! :D

Thanks again for all the nice comments, nice to be welcomed into a new group, will put up some more pics when I can, then I will have to start thinking of ways to personalise it. Yay!
