Just replaced front rear bushes

What a difference........feels like a new one again....steering feels sharper and when driving over pot holes the banging has reduced alot , took around a hour to do . :driving:
 
Yes done them myself ....brought new ones from europarts , got a three legged bearing puller from screwfix around £13 (0nly use two legs cause it slips off ) the only other thing you need that i can think of is a rubber hammer which will help replace the bushes ...... hope this helps :thumbsup:
 
Don't think I'd trust myself to get it done right. At least I know it shouldn't take too long to do.
Will give my Indy a call and see how much they want to do it.

What bushes exactly/front suspnsn rear mounts or what?
wishbone suspnsn on the zeds,isnt it?

think that may be problem with mine at min/handling v poor in last few weeks!
 
I presume stirz replaced the rear bushes on the front wishbone. is this right stirz?

they seem to be the ones that wear the fastest, and most replace. seems to be a common fault on the 3 series too, from the ready i've done.

had the control arm bushes changed on mine recently and yeah makes a big difference - not that Id noticed the deterioration mind...

more steering feel and like a new car :D
 
Thats right number one its not until its removed you can understand how much strain and importance this bush has over the suspension / steering........going to do the anti roll bar later in the week these seem easy (i hope ) :thumbsup:
 
Well done for doing it yourself Stirz! I had an indy do it for me. As you say, sharpens things up a bit.
Everyone shold have it done after a certain amount of miles just because the bushes take such a battering on our poor roads.

what sort of miles do they need changing ?
 
Dont know the answer to that one sorry ......mines high milage 89000 but dont know if they have been replaced before ? a good indicator would be on uneven roads /pot holes it sounds louder than it should and i could feel it through the steering wheel , sorry but thats the best i can do

Depends what kind of roads you drive on and how hard a life the car has had.

A simple inspection up on a ramp will tell you if they need changing. Its a very common issue with the old 3 series as well i think.
 
Hmm the guy who put my tyres on commented they were worn since the wheel had some play.

Are Powerflex the recommended poly ones to go for?
