Just repaired my runflat tyre

I was on my way to the office this morning when a red light came on, I was freaked out at first as it's the first time I've had it and I thought it was some kind of engine problem. Anyway quickly figured out it was the tyre sensor and pulled over shortly after. I could hear the air coming out of the rear drivers side tyre. I drove to the nearest 'chain' tyre place called Norauto where they said it's not possible to repair. I then slowly drove onto an independent that I used to take my MCS to, no problems, no scratching of the head, he just took it off, showed me the nail in the thread, fixed it and put it back on, at a cost of 10 euros. My tyres have plenty of life in them so I'm prepared to give the repair a whirl. I'll let you guys know if the repair ends up being a problem. I drive pretty sensibly and don't track the car so I don't think there should be any problem. On the plus side I have to give the runflat some credit, the fact that I never got my hands dirty, was able to drive to the place and get it done was pretty good I have to say.

Once the tyres are worn I will consider replacing with the Falkens although todays experience did give me a bit of a plus experience on runflats. It is great that there is a sensor as it alerted me straight away and I was able to deal with it before a major problem occurred. When driving with the puncture I couldn't tell there was any problem, it looked and drove as usual so I am pretty impressed with the tyres.

ps- anybody know how to reset the runflat indicator?

UPDATE: It's been a few more days and no problems.

Some say you can't repair RFTs so I hope you can prove otherwise

Will lightning strike twice in the same place?

Thanks guys, in fact I had to go out just as I posted. I kept the button pressed and alert light is gone and the car seems to be driving fine. Today is a strange day for my Zed, first the tyre his morning and then just now I had to pop out, the sun was out so I dropped the roof. When I was parking up at my destination, I pressed the roof button, the motor was groaning and the top began to close really really slowly and then just stopped half way. I pressed the button again, tried opening again, switched engine on and off and no luck. I then manually pulled the top the nearly closed position and pressed the button and it closed and locked the roof. Now I am petrified of opening the roof again and will have to have it checked out. Anybody experienced this?

Keeping my fingers crossed that I have no more problems today :D

EDIT: Got home fine, no more problems, the tyre seems perfect, so glad I managed to get it repaired.
