Just picked up the car

Just picked up my Z4MR, Tried not to look impatient at the dealers just wanted to get in it and drive it. Beautiful afternoon - had to have the roof down.

Love it, left my partners 350Z standing.

However couple of issues -

I currently drive a Auto TT and going from 1st to 2nd in the Z4 is not very smooth - tried upping the revs, but pulling away in first slowly is proving embrassing - sure it will get better the more i drive it. My partner drove it tonight he has the 350Z and even he had the same kangaroo style. Help any tips?

The only thing i do not like is the small speedo dials, or is it me, quite hard to keep an eye on how fast you are going.

Apart from that love it love it love it. Came home down the M69 and back roads to my house and gave it a good blasting - all within the speed limit of course

I will post some pics at the weekend.

1st to 2nd...just practice.
I find it does sometimes take a little more force than you would normally expect to slot a gear.
Fine with the speedo personally, probably depends on what you had before and are use to?

Look forward to the pics.

1st to 2nd is a bit tricky, but you can get used to it....

down to the CDV (Clutch Delay Valve apparently)

Never had an issue with the speedo :D

So its the CDV that can sometimes make the shift a little harder than you'd normally expect?
Can you get the CDV removed?

no it dosen't make the shift hard, it just makes it kangaroo in that change of gear.

the CDV can be changed, but if its under warrenty, removing it could / will invalidate the warrenty on the clutch and drive train.

Thought the kangarooing was just me as i am automatic softie.

Read the article, being a girlie not a job i fancy doing, but understand what it does. If the CDV does reduce the life of your clutch then think i will go for the extra BMW warranty when this runs out in a years time. Just put a new DSG gearbox in the TT and that cost me £3500. :x Has anyone had an issues with gearboxes in the Z4M?

Fortunately for me my clutch went about 2 week before the AUC warranty expired - dealer replaced no question :)

To figure out how fast you go, check the telephone poles. If they look like picket fences you are probably going a tad over the limit.

Oh come on, there's no way the warranty is invalidated by the CDV mod. My dealer wouldn't notice if i'd painted my car pink, never mind a slightly altered 3cm piece of metal. Always remember that they make money from doing warranty work and money is the only thing that matters to them.
