Just Picked up a Sweet 07 Roadster 3.0 si

Here is Pic of my new Roadster, boy what a change from my last Bimmer ( 84 318I). I can't believe it doesn't have a spare tire. Need two cans of Fix a Flat I guess! Found some new lug nuts in the glove Box, and realized they are the same I think as on my first 320I etc.
Ironically, I paid the same exact dollar amount for roadster with 146K as I did for a 1980 320I (in 1986) with I think 60K.
This car was Dealer maintained, and used a daily commuter.
Oh it's a six speed manual! anyone know how many miles before the clutch plates need replacement. The owner for the last 10 yrs and 95% of the milage looked like a very experienced clutch driver. He just retired and bought a new Z4 .

Welcome aboard Capt Jim.

It looks as though yours is a 3.0Si, so you'll find it a bit more entertaining than your previous BMW!

The reason they don't have a spare is that as new they were all fitted with run-flat tyres, so check whether you still have them fitted to yours. Most people on here find the ride much improved by swapping to non run-flats - if you do that (or already have them) then Fix a Flat and a compressor would be a good idea!

Sorry I don't know how long clutches last as I've only had mine 3 years so I don't know if it's had a new one or not.

Welcome aboard. Nice looking Zed. Clutch life is so much dependent on use. Hopefully has a good few miles left in it at 60k.

Hi, the dual mass flywheel seems to get sloppy/clunky before the actual clutch plate wears out but they seem to soldier on like that for years regardless :?

Congrats on the new car, welcome to the forum. I do love those wheels. Are you in a state where you can drive without the front numberplate?

Yes Pennsylvania only requires 1 rear plate. So I now have an empty plate holder up front to put a fun one on!
So I notice a lot of Brits on this forum!
Are there any Yanks out there?
My clutch shifting is so smooth and effortless, I thought it had been replaced.
According to the prev owner it's all original with 146k.
My 03 Eclipse had about 200k on it before I replaced it, I bought it new. But front wheel drive clutches are a PITA

Let me reword that Clutch question. How many miles on average before the clutch needs replacing. Some examples for your own experiences would be helpful! My 03 Eclipse (bought new) got about 200k on it before there was nothing left. However,I was able to get it home!
