Just picked up a 2004 Roadster

Have you done the sound generator mod yet? Or at least had a tinker with it. Very quick to do... can swap foam in thirty seconds, literally :)

With you having had a Chim and T350, it'll get your cabin noise at least part way to TVR kinda levels in the 1000-3500rpm kinda range (where imho it's far too quiet standard)

This one is no foam at the bulkhead end as far as I can tell (sounds just like mine now)

Not yet. i have now worked out what it is and where it is. Will take a look tomorrow. Yes, I agree the car is too quiet unless you thrash it - must be to keep all those septics and businessmen happy.

Hmmm, my hose is actually quite flat vs my friends... Might just get a new one from BMW, along with a few other bits and bobs :)

Thanks for bringing it up, yet more little bits to buy :)

FYI this didn't solve the hesitation I have under 1,900rpm. I was going on advice of the indie who had just given the car an inspection 2 service before I bought the car but didn't have the hose in stock at the time.

Hmmm, well that pipe on mine (if it's the same one) literally runs JUST to the brake master cylinder, so worst case I just get less assistance.

The hesitation under 1900rpm sounds like a problem another member had recently. If it's just had insp2 it should have had plugs and filters and oil, so I now wonder if it's maybe had the right plugs put on there... that may well cause low-rpm issues!?
Far from an expert with these cars/engines but getting there slowly :)

I just checked the service receipt to confirm, the garage did not replace the plugs at the service (looks like the replaced everything else).

The plugs (and oodles of extra 'checks' that are done on MOT's etc anyway) are about the only real difference from an INSP1 > INSP2...

I'd get some new plugs in there, and give the indie a good ear bashing!

Hopefully it is something as simple as old worn plugs :)

Dave

Nice new plugs in (I think its a bit sharper now the spark/combustion is a bit more effective - the old plugs were OK but tired). No difference to the hesitation. Booked the car into TCS in High Wycombe Weds for diagnosis. The car is fine otherwise, little things annoy me...

Fixed now. It was one of the coils breaking down, but not enough to show up a fault code. I also had them replace the inlet flap thing which was rattling (and did throw up a fault code).

Now its running right I'll think about polishing and tinkering a bit more...

Hi Tref,ex Serial TVR owner and T350t owner here.
Now driving a Z4 coupe and enjoying it,hope you do too.

Glad it is all getting fixed up and working right :D

Which flap is it you are talking about, the one half way down the inlet manifold, or the actually throttle body flap?

If the manifold thingy wasn't working right then you will have lost some torque down low as well, so that will make a difference to tractability at low speeds.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Milu - I miss the T350 a lot. On a day like today there is no better car. To make things worse the guy who bought it from me in January keeps telling me how good it is and how nothing had gone wrong (I was a serial Tinkerer - PH tag Targarama). He even suggested I buy it back ... so I'm kind of glad I bought the Z4 when I did, it was a bit of a 'on a whim' purchase - decided on a summer roadster of some kind on a Sat AM, car bought by Mon evening.

I'm wondering whether a Z4M Roadster will be the next step in a year or so's time... (I'd need non-M Sport seats though - I'm 6ft 5 and only just fit in the Z4 with standard seats!)

Dave - I haven't had a chance to look closely yet, but it is the little black box which attaches to the inlet manifold. Car just took me to Oxford and back this morning and seems to be cured. Roof down on the way back, 70mph all the way occifer :driving:

Yeah i miss my T350 too.
should have never sold it..but there you go.
joined in a few threads over on PH with you 'back in the day' lol.

having said that im more than happy with my Z4M coupe,i feel its from a similar mold to the T350.

I replaced mine, and already it's looking a little collapsed. Not fully of course, but you can see why these pipes do eventually fail, they do sink a bit on the flat bits between the bends.

It shouldn't you have probably not used strong enough pipe. It needs to be high pressure piping. I made this mistake. Both types look the same to the untrained eye.
