Just ordered my new tyres...

So I went to halfords today to pick up a tyre gauge as the back end has been a little lairy over the last month in the wet.

Turns out my rears are pretty borderline. They are currently Michelin Pilot Alpin ( :? ).

Checked a couple of online places andread up about the Falkens 452's on here. Rang my local tyre place who will match the online price of £238 fitted (2 rears).

Im just starting to wonder if I have done the right thing, will I regret not going for the Goodyear Eagle F1's or are the Falkens still performing well for people that use them on here?

God knows! Its even got the little Frost symbol on the tyre. I never notcied this until tonight and Ive had the car 6 months. I always just presumed they were just Michelin Pilots until I had a proper look!

Do you get paticularly hard winters in Stoke On Trent then Tommo? :driving:

No problems here.

Not as sharp as the OE Bridgestone, but at the same time was that a good thing if it also made it so jibbly wibbly?

I'll try the Asymmetric next simply because until you try them all you'll never know, but I think they will probably bring back some of the sharpness which maybe the Falken's miss, without going TOO far back to the OE Bridgestone harshness!

I doubt you will feel unhappy with the FK452 one bit, I can't fault mine generally. Car is still fantastic to drive and the reduced harshness (softerness?!) lets you feel the edge of the envelope a great deal more which is a good thing!

I had vredestein sessanta's on my TT, and they were amazing. Totally changed the cars handling, reduced understeer a lot as grip was much better!
 
Ok Im going to stick with the Falkens :) Thanks!

Getting them fitted after dinner tomorrow... to be honest with me having winter tyres on at the moment I think anything will be an improvement! :D
 
They're a decent tyre, think they have a little ridge for rim protection too (my last falkens did) handy for the slowest of curb touches!

I've had both, i went through the F1's like butter but they do stick, the falkens have been good and last longer but alas the rears are dead again! :driving:
 
In my opinion the 512's were rubbish. Can't comment on the 452's. But they are a 'performance budget' tyre for the lack of a better word.

Tyres are something i would never skimp on!
 
I think they are a performance tyre, at a price that appears budget because of the stupidly high prices we pay for more established 'performance' brands.

I won't say they are not cheaper, they clearly are in some regards vs top-end ones, but if you stuck a 50% higher price on them I doubt anyone would notice that they felt bad for the price they paid vs say Asymmetrics, and plenty of people would likely buy them because they must be good if they are that expensive.
