Just noticed my driving licence has expired!

Yes it's just the photo they are concerned with. It says on my licence details on the Gov website when I put the details in "you have a valid licence to drive the categories listed. Your licence has expired". Mixed messages.

Still not as bad as a few years back when I was driving around for two years with a 'revoked' licence, as I didn't update an address and they couldn't get hold of me so revoked it. Didn't get a fine, DVLA just sent me a new licence when I found out! :thumbsup:

It wouldn’t be such an issue if the photo needed updating every year as most of us would remember, when it’s set at ten year intervals (and they don’t bother to send the reminders out that they said they would) then you don’t stand a chance!

At least us oldies get a new license every three years- perhaps that’s what the dvla have undue delays?

Bit of a problem there too; I can't find it! Looked everywhere. I move house so bloody often things tend to get 'tidied up' by the Fuhrer when packing :roll:

Went to the post office this morning, applied for a new licence. Lady at the counter said the receipt was proof that I am OK to drive until the new card comes through.

I moved in 2019 and notified DVLA the change of address, they must have auto applied the 10 years ? :?

I moved in 2019 too. They only changed the address on mine. In fact mine was issued in 2012 and I have moved three times since then, so only addresses updated.
I did have quite a laugh with the woman in the post office today, though, so not all bad! :D
 
Received my renewal from the DVLA last week and completed the application on line.

Yesterday, received my free new licence in the post, all within a week :thumbsup:
 
i had this happen to me a few years ago, I only noticed when i turned up at a datacentre and was almost refused entry as my ID had expired. Very embarrassing.
 
It’s every three years once you hit 70
No mention of Europe on my latest renewal and they continue to use the mug shot on my latest passport which expires next year!
 
I had to update mine but I received a letter advising me to do so about 6 weeks before the expiry date.
No passport so had to do it at the post office.
New license came through in about 3 days.
