thought id say hello,
just signed up here, got my heart set on a z4 so now just hunting down one, have been reading the forums over the last few days and picked up a lot of info, cant wait to get my hands on a z, currently driving a seat ibiza, whole family have seats but my father recently picked up an old but mint 2.5l 323i, its a heavy brute but once it gets going the acceleration is quite addictive, so something like that in a 2 seater should be epic. had my eyes on a mazda rx8 or honda s2000 or even a nissan z350 if i was pushing it, but the bmw blows them all away the more ive looked into them, so mad as it seems i want to buy a convertible in the middle of winter!

Welcome to the forum :D

And mid-winter is the best time to buy

You can still get the top down occasionally when the sun is out :D

Happy hunting 8)

well hunting is ongoing, every time i find one its gone or disappears from the website, and i didnt write down the contact details, printing the pages from now on! fingers crossed i can view one or two this weekend. think i may need to up the budget or lower my expectations

I in fact had the pleasure of the roof down today. Was a good chance to give the heating system a good kicking too. ;)

Don't panic though about finding your car though, be patient young pad'wanI It took a couple of months of combing websites, widening my search all the time and then a drive up to Yorkshire to find mine but being prepared to drive a bit further seemed worthwhile. Afterall, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon than flying home with a new toy. ;)

Welcome :)

I came from a Seat Ibiza too - all I can say is do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it

And as for top down occasionally, too right. As long as there's not much spray coming up off the road, and I'm not on a long m'way trip, then the roof's down on mine. Just buy a stupid wooly hat to wear and you're fine

i dont mind driving the length of the country as long as its right! luckily i live quite centrally, so i just treat it as a day out. im not the most patient of people and when i want something i want it now! :driving:

a11y, i saw a pic of your old ibiza, were you on one of the seat forums?

anyone suggest anywhere else to look for one, im currently combing auto trader, the local ads/car mags, looking on the car supermarket sites

well just a quick post to say i bought a 2.5 from a forum member, its currently in my garage until i sort my insurance for monday, its killing me not driving it, just need to clean up the old ibiza and get it sold asap. will get some pics up at the weekend. all i can say is this forum greatly swung me into buying a z, loads of good posts and knowledgeable users, i went from wanting to buy a mazda rx8, to a honda s2000, to a nissan 350z, then thinking i will just save my money until i stumbled across a z4 on autotrader - which led me to the forum to read up on them, then in just under a month ive got one!

ok enough lurking - did some pics on saturday quickly, got it clean and polished, only to drive to crewe and it as filthy, had some scary moments on some slippy country roads, still getting used to rwd, also hit a phesent - front bumper must be made of stern stuff as its not even marked - bird was left tumbling down the road in a puff of feathers, right into a vectra behind me!

That looks very nice.

I see you (or prior owner) have done a few mods - spoiler , debadging, aerial, tail lights, white centre, repeaters. They all add up
