I bought 9j 10j alloys from the '1m'
With conti contact 3
With 245 35 19 and 275 30 19

They fit great with no rubbing on the front and well chuffed, however I have noticed the back end is sitting atleast 20mm higher than before! (I can get my hand in) surely they should be even closer than the stock rims? The fitter said it will settle again?! There on eibach springs.

Any ideas guys?

Any before / after pics ? Ideally both parked in same place with handbrake off
I would have expected slightly less arch gap if anything :?

I've drove it about 15 miles since, I went the gym after fitting then parents and back home to the garage

It will have settled by then , i did notice when i had my 89 that with the hand brake applied it raised the rear end a touch :?

I had 224 Oem standard size tyres
Fitted Oem csl 265 30 19
235 35 19 and the gap remained the same

As the 19s actually although bigger and low profile tyre
The wheel as it fits to hub will lift the car by 1" or so as the wheel is obviously larger
I lowered mine v quickly ;)

275/30-19 is actually about half an inch smaller in diameter than the OE 255/40-18. So, your car's rear end body is about 1/4" lower to the ground and you have gained about 1/4" in wheel well gap (space between top of tire and fender). The increased wheel well gap illusion makes it look "taller".

I had noticed the same thing when I swapped out my OE wheels/tires with 275/30-19. On my next set of tires, I'm going to see if I can stuff in some 285/30-19...we shall see :D

Hahah on what model and wheels buddy Ref 285

Currently running BBS CI-R 19x9.5et25 with Continental ExtremeContact DW 275/30R19 in the rear. On compression, it looks like I may have about 10mm clearance to fender/bumper and about the same on inside wheel well (stock camber). The 285 may work if and only if my next set would also be DWs. It may not work if I veered away from the DWs. Will decide when the time comes for new rubber

Looks Very nice :P love the wheels. Not liking my stock exhaust (not the noise) the size of the boxes underneath and they don't fill the gap enough. What exhaust is on yours Xmetal?

The extra 20mm is great for these kind of manures.
All you need now is the white stripe!

I have Eisenmann Sports on the car at the moment. I've gone through several, but settled on the Eisenmann. For your curiosity, here are a few comparison of my past exhausts in chronological order:

Painted Stock - Way too quiet. The high temp. black paint actually made it more presentable and hide the "man sacks"

SuperSprint Race - Way too loud for street use. My neighbors hated me. Raised too much unneeded attentions driving around town. Took it off after a couple of weeks. The tips are not that much larger than stock, but protrude much more past the bumper

Remus Sports - Just a tad louder (I would say about 10% louder) than stock with a nice deep tone. Very nice finished tips.

Remus vs Stock

Eisenmann Sports - Just a tad louder than the Remus, also with a good deep tone. Has the largest tips of all these exhausts (83mm). This is my good middle ground between stock and SuperSprint Race.

Nice write up xmetal...

Good idea painting the boxes black blends them in a bit better, far too big!

I was thinking the eisenman for the looks or rpi system. Is it just the back boxes or more than that?

Just the back boxes. Not sure how much research you have done, but the RPis are LOUD and drone. RPis are even louder than SuperSprint Race :o
