What a treat :) a pal who works for local BMW dealership popped round & give me the fob
Thoughts ? Bigger than you think ? Doors are a work of art , interior is WoW & the torque when you floor it is epic
Also sounded great when switched to sport / engine mode
Would I give £100k for one ? Not likely , Lambo all day everyday with that kind of money but it did have some gorgeous styling

I love these. I'm working on "justifying" one (ie using man maths) when I swap the A8 out, maybe next spring.

Being honest this should be pitched maybe £10k over a 6 series , I just struggle seeing £100k in it
He did say there are healthy discounts when you are ready Graham

I drove one last year and loved it, until I tried to get out, I had to be helped out  That 1500 engine really does sound great

There is something about them, that is different to all of the other cars on the road that just follow the same theme.

If they start nudging in around the £50k mark, I can see more people taking interest, but as they age, who would want to take one on without a warrranty ?. I dont think your back street Indy would touch one yet, so you'd just have to creep into the Main Dealership and "adopt the position"

Haha , dead right mr P , my chum is about to have a double hip replacement , seeing him rolling in & out was pure comedy :P
& he'd taken his wife out to a posh restaurant in it before he came to me , when he came out of the place there were folks stood around the car , ohhh the shame as he struggled to clamber in :D

Am I not correct in saying the the engine sound is all false and piped into the cabin?

Stunning car anyway.

I would say so , its a 1.5 petrol 3 cylinder :o
I get the whole idea behind it but if I had that kind of lolly id be wanting big output  environment concerns + MPG would be irrelevant

Had a courtesy car from my local indy last year - an F56 Cooper with presumably a version of the same 1.5 litre 3 cylinder!

What a POS - sounded like a diseasel and had no power until you revved the n*ts off it!

Now if they had made a proper "i8" with the V10 from the M5/M6 :cloud9:

It's even worse here, the main dealer doesn't have anyone qualified to work on it, and has to fly someone in from the other end of the country to do any maintenance on it. :o

I was lucky enough to get a ride as a passenger in one at the Wales/England meet earlier in the year

Very different and very impressive - when the guy floored it the sound was amazing - then I checked if the noise was piped - and sure enough it is -

Leaves your senses feeling assaulted and confused - think I would still prefer an anti- green V10 too though

I thought the I8 local to me sounded like a smart car, that said passers by don't get the benefit of the fake engine sounds piped through the radio :)

It does actually sound quite throaty if it passes you at full chat. A guy local to me in Holland has one and passed me while i was biking home. Presume he had sport mode engaged. Lovely looking motor though!

Yes, they sound better on the outside than in. Used ones, nearly new are a good price. I haven't ruled one out for next summer.

Bet that was nice Andy. I would like a go in one.
But i dont think i want one. I think i am the only BMW fan that finds the styling off. It just dose not do it for me. But then again i didnt think wow when i first saw a z4. And now i dont think there are many better looking cars on the road???

Vines has got one, but they refused me a test drive :? Thought they would have been keen to demo it, but hey ho.

I like the look of them, as long as they are in a single colour like that black metallic.
