Just got this many miles on a full tank 3.0si Sport!

Hey guys

I am a new owner and have a fab 2007 3.0si Sport and I thought I would post my mpg on one tank of fuel :)

I had done 366 miles with 62 miles left in the tank before I filled up, I filled it up as the warning light came on but it looks like I could have done around 430 on one tank! My average mpg was showing 37.1 when I filled it up :) this was made up of a 246 mile drive home to York from Wiltshire so it was country lanes/motorways I did hit some congestion along the way but on motorways where possible I was doing around 75mph mostly, when I hit the Nottingham area on the M1 I saw the average rise to 40.9! and from there all the way home to York I stopped the car on an average of 40.3! I have to say I thought this was pretty good :) after that for the rest of the tank we went across the north York moors to sandsend/Whitby then onto the Lion inn/Blakey ridge to the pub for a beer and sandwich which was all country roads. OMG I just love this car so much :D

I aim for sub 25 on a run. I make her work :evil:

Edit - totally get the economy thing though. 42mpg for a gentle drive from Forfar to Edinburgh a fortnight ago

I aim for sub 25 :rofl: I love that and I do make the car work at times but I am just letting anyone unsure about the 3.0 economy it can be very good :)

Not when its in a auto box X3 :cry: its sub 20 in town & max's out at 26 on a run :wink: comfy & spacious though so you can't have it all :thumbsup:

Not when its in a auto box X3 :cry: its sub 20 in town & max's out at 26 on a run :wink: comfy & spacious though so you can't have it all :thumbsup:

Hi mr wilks enjoying that 6 cyl unit is an understatement I just adore that engine and the noise of it is just intoxicating :) I have had the roof down so much in this weather and it is just brilliant, I loved my mx5 but this car is in a different league :)
 
That's pretty impressive. I think I only get about 250-300max miles out of a full tank. Drive with sport mode engaged most of the time, and doing the sound generator "defoam" mod probably gives me more of a heavy foot.

Do you think cars get less economical with age/mileage?

I can get 600 miles out of a tank in my 2011 1 series (118d). Its stunning.

Hence why the zed only comes out at weekends, and on the occasional sunny Friday.
 
Thats real good from the zed. Best i ever managed was 39 on a 80 mile run down the M6!!

BUT I can get 71mpg (900 miles per tank) out of the 320d touring (with plenty of coasting :wink: )!!

I have managed over 450miles to a tank... Literally filled up 53L after and odbc said -- miles remaining for over 5 miles!

My 120d managed 600 miles once... Which i thought was impressive considering the way i drove it!

I get close...ish to that high MPG on the odd occasion I start to daydream...

lol No way!! Don't and will never believe you.
 
I will be (hopefully) getting one in a few months so this is really handy to know.
I think it's going to be better regardless compared to my my 3.2 Stronic TT roadster and more fun too!!
