Hi Guys. New member and just bought my first Z4 in Sterling Grey and black hood. This is to replace two Lotus Elises which were awesome but as you get older getting in and out becomes "challenging" to say the least.

So having done some research I have bought a late 04 3.0iSE in manual with Xenons, 108's, PDC, Carver, seat heating, deflector and 38k on the clock from an approved used main dealer inc 12 months RFL for £10700 which seems a good deal. They are even fully refurbishing the 108's as I understand they corrode easily

I have driven a 2.0 which was fun, but not this yet, but the 3.0 should be not far off the Elise in a straight line.

The price disparity amongst main dealers is astonishing with another dealer advertising similar for just under 4k more :o

Pick it up on Monday so pictures to follow

Welcome!!!

When you say its not far off the elise, are you talking about the 3.0? or 2.0?!

I'd have fort the 2.0 would have had no chance you see!

Welcome!

Is yours a manual or auto??

i just bought mine on saturday from a BMW dealer but its an auto, grey with red leather, sat nav and cruise control, 33k on clock for £12,700. Had been looking for 3 months and was the cheapest auto, grey & red leather, sat nav combo i could find. The manuals were a lot cheaper and more choice.

Edited on both counts.

Mine is a manual and also was referring to the 3.0 when comparing to the Elise.

The manuals are more common but I do not like auto. Just a personal preference though. I have no sat nav which seems to hike the price quite as bit and red leather and silver is cool.

Nice one...

Yeah I fort you was meaning the 3.0! As the Elise is rapid...

I was looking at the VX220 Turbo...Elise 111R and TT when in the hunt for a car...The only thing I found was the VX and Elise were both down on the toys (xenons, heated seats, etc...), I mean you was lucky to see more than 5 buttons on the dash HAHAHA!

PHEWW!! Good to know i wasnt ripped off :)

Look forward to the pics. I'm picking mine up on Friday so hope to have mine up on the weekend.

Definately not ripped off. Nav adds a fortune or so it seems like about £3k. It does look good but I am tight and bought a TomTom!!

I've got a 3.0 Auto (steptronic) and just came from a 2.2 VX220 (0-60 5.5 seconds). I also had a 2006 1.8 Elise S for a month too which was slighly slower than the VX.

The 0-60 on the VX is better than the Z4, but you don't really notice the difference. Its worth sacrificing half a second for all the goodies packed into a Z4.

Although up to 60 it isn't, the Z4 actually feels faster than the VX due to the roaring straight 6 and gorgeous exhaust note (especially with the Sport button pressed) :D

You cant really compare the two I suppose, they are totally different.

One thing I will say though, is that i am using far far far more fuel in the Z4 and driving it a lot less aggresive than my VX :(

Welcome :)

That's a damn good price, especially from an approved main dealer too. Ideal spec and a decently low mileage. Will be interested how you find it compared to an Elise - I was looking at a VX 2.2 (cheaper insurance than an Elise for me) but struggled with access/egress. As an everyday car I'm sure the Z4 is the better option, but I just hope I don't get a taste for track action or I'll be cursing my choice!

Elsie/vx access is OK when you get used to it. Bum in first, lift up slightly, left leg first. Buy a removable whell which makes it 10 times easier.

Interesting pont about the fuel. The Elise did about 35 but not this I guess!

After a month of owning a VX/Elise, getting in/out is as natural as breathing, im 6ft tall and never had a problem once i worked out the best way :)

Sounds like a good price and spec all said and done.

Just make sure the 108's are done well when reconditioned.

How many owners has it had?

I went to buy one with pretty much the same spec but with M sports for the same price 2 months ago, but now question if there wasn't something 'obvious' not perfect with it, like owner count, or a Cat D in the history etc... as I've not since one anywhere near on price for the spec since :?

If it's AUC and you've checked it all out and it's all how you want it, and done a full HPI, then go for it and ENJOY :D

Welcome from an(other!) ex VX220 owner! I do know what you mean about the accessibility being 6' 3" and having a slipped disc in your back really doesn't help!!

Surprisingly, my Z4 returns better MPH than my VX ever did, modified or not! ~35 average compared to ~31. :D

Thanks guys - all good useful info. Just about get cruise ordered as it seems I can retrofit without adding the loom too

I bought my 2.5 Sport Roadster 2 weeks ago from BMW dealer. Options include Black Oregon Leather, Multi-function Steering Wheel, 18" Composite Star Spoke Alloy Wheels, Wind Deflector, Brushed Aluminium Trim, Rear-View Auto-Dimming Mirror, and Xenon Headlights with Headlight Wash. The car is 06/56 (1 previous owner) and has done 42k miles, and I paid £12,490. I think you can't really get another similar one at this price, although the mileage is 20k miles higher than average. But the bodywork and interior trim are in excellent condition.

I dont. But then again it is faster than a 3.0si so its ok and I will get over it. :poke: :fuelfire:

Welcome to the forum btw and good choice.
