just got my first Z and have a few small issues....

Just copied this across as I realised I posted it in the wrong section.

Evening all... So just picked up My first Z tonight, 2004 3.0L pulls well and all seems good, I gave the engine a little rev in the garage with the bonnet up and noticed what sounded like it was suckling in air ! So had a look and found a split pipe by the air mass and on from that towards the bulk head a colapsed pipe





not sure what either do ? I'm guess their breather pipes of some sort ?
Any help appreciated

How spooky. Is that collapsed pipe the one you can trace back to the servo. If so its exactly the same on my car and I was about to post the same question. Perhaps its meant to be like that or its collapsing under vacuum from the servo. Anyway wait with interest for an answer.
 
My collapsed in just the same way.not too sure what or why ,just replaced the pipe.
If I remember rightly it had the part number stamped on the old pipe.

If its the same pipe mine was the brake servo boost pipe part no 34336763992
£12.67 from Harry Fairbairn bmw dealer.that was with 15% discount.on another forum. :thumbsup:

On further inspection of your pics I can see some of the part no and it matches.
Seems we had the same issue.
 
Just rechecked on my car and the whole pipe has collapsed. Must be strong vacuum that has caused it so will need to replace.
 
Ye ut dose go to the brake slave cylinder.... I spoke to a mate of mine who's seen alot of these collapsed pipes altough on a different models of BM''s, very common fault apparently, he did say that when you purchase the replaced part from the main dealer they were plastic and non callapsable ! Also after a good look in the daylight I've noticed the large rubber pipe which goes to the air mass meter is split so going to have to change that also...
 
Has anyone noticed that their braking performance has suffered or worsened because of this collapsed servo brake pipe?

I didn,t notice any difference,either with collapsed pipe, or after fitting new one.
 
Been out for along drive today round the a and b roads and the brakes are great ! going to get the parts next week though.
