I fully understand what you are all saying about needing comparisons on the same dyno, but the guy is chuffed with his car.
Don't be so hasty with the pouring of cold water.
Sometimes it's nice just to see someone happy and not immediately start calculating the deflection shot needed to bring them crashing down.

Seems as though Peter takes any thread in relation to dynos or increased power as some kind of threat to his (self coronated) "crown".

Got to say, though, that "4Tune" is not the best name for marketing! Let's hope they don't get sponsorship from Costa!

My point was was it’s not about the headline figure. It was what the mods added!?
If he would have done a dyno before and after he could have seen what gains he would have. Which is the real measure.
He could have posted my car made 180bhp and my response would have been exactly the same.

How can he do a before and after on that Dyno he ran on today...? He can't so as you so eloquently put it it's 'Pub talk'....so why have a pop at him at all....? As I said, unnecessary and points to pissing on him because he has good power figures which seems to have flicked a couple of people's switches.

It’s quite possible that the car is singing sweetly…however without any comparison data you could be just enjoying an optimistic dyno and/or it’s operator..

I never pissed on his bonfire ..I merely pointed out that absolute dyno numbers mean nothing without a base line or reference..the company he used hasn’t AFAIK published any dyno numbers from stock or any other cars do no reasonable correlation is possible…


Given that the operator applied a 5% fudge factor,which may be perfectly explainable then the number has no guaranteed relevance to BMWs book figures..
