Just Curious-Service Costs.

Hi folks, just had this months after sales email from the local dealer ship and noticed that they are offering value servicing for the E85/E86, not sure how long they have been offering this service for these models but are these prices good value? or are you better of going to a good independent specialist?

Oil & Microfilter Service £189

Inspection 1 £269

Inspection 2 £429

Front Brake Pads £129

Rear Brake Pads £119
As I say just curious.
 
I would advise you to go to someone you trust. My friend has been going to the main bmw dealer in Nottingham and has nothing but hassle, they do a good job on what they do but they keep him waiting and have damaged his car on more than one occasion, I would say find somewhere you feel treats you as a customer

Thats still quite expensive.

My indy is 119 for oil and microfilter, 199 for insp1 and 299 for insp2.
 
Seems to me then that the independent's are the best way forward then, but is there any benefit in having a main dealer service stamp? or using the dealer for very much at all on an older car?

Yep goodwill. I've had it with both my Z4 and my TT with Audi and it's saved me a couple of thousand

Wouldn't have had a chance if I didn't have a full main dealer service history

As my Zed gets older I may find a decent independent.
 
I have a quote for an A-service Grosvenor Motors in Reading - simply a brilliant independent. Quote is £147.59 Inc vat to cover...

Oil & filter recycling
Service sundries

In my experience, find an Indy that you trust and use them for everything. Unless of course you have won the lottery and want to distribute some of your wealth to a Stealer, with no extra benefit, or even better coffee..........
