Hi

Been a viewing member for a while, excellent forum by the way, just traded 3.0i se sapphire black, red leather, 108s (refurbed myself as per posts on here) cruise, mp3 jack carver stereo blah blah blah, for a Sapphire black, red leather M roadster 07' & only 5,000 miles from wellsway Bath. They are looking at retro fitting cc and mp3 jack for me as part of the deal, but can't wait to pick it up in a fortnight as am driving it to tuscany on the 1st july, should be fun.

Any advice on ownership appreciated, any pitfalls or oddities to watch out for?

Will post updates as to how it all goes, and some pics on my return.

Ciao :driving:

Welcome! Can't say there are any real pitfalls to worry about, except keeping your license! Had mine over three years engine never misses a beat and still puts a big smile on my face. Enjoy it!

Brief resume of events so far.
Collected car 25th June, retro fit c/c and mp3 not done as per agreed deal aarrgghh, took car anyway as off to Tuscany on hols in it next week and said I would sort out when I get back, not sure how but to mad to think straight, will update as to whats been happening as and when resolved.

Great run down to tuscany, 28mpg and sat at 90mph ish most of the time, (speed camera detector helped save the old licence and wallet from suffering)

No faults or issues except somewhere along the way the headlight washer cover that pops up has gone missing, will have to investigate a replacement either new, 2nd hand or may see if warrenty covers it.

Couple of pics from Tuscany

You may find that the dealer can not retrofit the CC on a M though. It is possible, but I have never seen it done through the dealer network though.

Nice z
Brave man for going for the sapphire black again, after ownng one,lol
i find it is a great looking colour, but its just so difficult in keeping it looking that way,as to BMW'S use of white primer beneath the black paint(or at least mine does),it does tend to show stonechips esasily.

looks great when shiny though :D
how are u enjoying the extra power? is it that noticeable?? :driving:

Welcome to the forum. Good looking Zed. Washer cover coming off is a common problem unfortunately.

glastoveteran.. you'll love it, great roads away from main routes which make you wince when you crash over the expansion joints, very very uncomfortable, but the SP (strada provincial) roads are great for driving, check out the Chianti scenic drives an absolute must for scenery and bends! We were near Siena and San Gimignano but have been all over Tuscany and you'll love it, just stick to the cheaper trattorias as the food is better and more authentic than the posh restaurants, especially in the tourist areas. Let me know how you get on when you get back

Craig3.0 black gives me excuse to clean excessivley and keep the neighbours amused when I clean it for the umteenth time.

pvr spoke to Cooper locally about fitting the cc and they said if I had all the parts that it would be £290ish to fit and code, when I suggested Wellway cover this cost and supply the parts they reckoned it would be nearer £120 plus parts which they have agreed to supply, which begs the question WHY DIDN'T THEY DO IT AS I ASKED AND THEY AGREED, getting angry again :x

Thanks chalkster - glad it was good! I'm fortunate in that my parents have a house in Tuscany (near Cortona) so I've been there a few times (Siena & San Gim included!). Also did the drive there and back a couple of years ago in my last Z4 but very much looking forward to it again!

Stelvio here we come...
