Just bought my first Z4

Had it up on stands tonight and I think it is coming from round the manifold to centre section flanges, the nuts and studs are nearly none existent they've just corroded away.

Also does anyone know the broken actuator in the second picture is for on these? It looks like a suspension height sensor like you get with air suspension can't imagine what it's for on the Z4

Interested in your thoughts on the ramps with built in jack's as I've seen some for sale that seem really good value for what they do

Nice Z! Sits nice and low.
I had this problem when I first bought my coupe (also a 3.0) and had my trusty indy sort out the issue. They basically spent bloody ages drilling out the pins and replaced them by bolting through instead. It's a pig of a job and something I'm glad I didn't choose to undertake myself!

Welcome to the forum, another MR2 owner. Plenty of ex and present owners on here, what model did you have ?

A note of caution - Watch out for the front valance and those kerbs!
You wont be the first nor the last to scrape or nudge.

Wow lots of replies certainly is an active forum!

I had an inkling that it might be lowered, now you guys have mentioned it as well it kind of confirms it, it's just springs not coilovers but either way I'll probably out it back to stock I'm not personally a fan of lowered cars.

Thanks for the info on the actuator, it does have hids so makes sense, I better get it fixed otherwise I could end up blind oncoming traffic.

Regarding the ramps with jack's, they are really handy and give you that bit more height especially with a low car like the Z4, however they're too steep as standard to drive up onto, you'll need to buy some ramp extenders to go with them but they're fairly cheap.

Lastly the mr2, I had a mk3 and I thought it was brilliant, I did a 2 week 2000 mile trip round Europe in mine and 3 trackdays it never once went wrong, one of the best handling cars I've ever driven, so light on its feet but I'd had it 3 years and decided I wanted a change so got rid. As well as the Z4 I have a ratty mk1 mx5 that I intend to tow to trackdays with my land rover discovery!
