Just bought my first one

Hey all. Just picked up my first z4 yesterday. Wanted one for ages.
Got a good deal on it as it needs the clutch replacing.
Has anyone any experience replacing a clutch themselves? How difficult is it? Any pitfalls or advice?
I’m not a stranger to working on cars, but not a seasoned professional by any means.
It’s an 03 2.2 model.
Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, I would have thought it pretty straight forward to get the gearbox out as these are rear wheel drive. Where are you based.
Get some photos up soon, it's the law

18” M-sport alloys, 225 front 255 rear (anyone know the best pressures for these?)
Quite a tidy machine.
Just had a mooch about under the hood, bolts for the bell housing are much more accessible than I imagined.
Based in Nottingham.

Another nice example. The head light looks like it has condensation, this can be the rubber boot missing or not fitted correctly at the back of the unit.
What is wrong with the clutch, could it be a slave/master cylinder issue ??

Welcome OP - nice quick response with the photo too.

Sorry I can't help with the clutch issue.

Cheers for the replies guys. Happy to be here!
Yeah, firebobby, there is condensation in the headlights, I’ve taken the lamps out the back to let them dry out. It’s off the road for a little bit whilst I wait for the new clutch to arrive, will check all the rubbers when I put them back together.
Clutch is defiantly a gonner, when only moving the car a bit you can smell the clutch.
Still chuffed to bits with it though, can’t wait to take it out for a proper drive.

Good luck getting the clutch sorted - then you can start driving it properly. :driving:

welcome to the fold. I'm sure a new clutch will be the first on a very long list of expenses.. these machines are money pits.. but what fun to drive

No, they're an investment! It's all a matter of perspective. (And maybe mental state)!
