I have just purchased a 2007 E86 coupe in black for a forum user who lived in the Isle of Man. Car is on 88000 miles First issue was getting someone to view it. Fortunately my niece lives on the island. Second was getting it from Isle of Man to Northern Ireland as after Christmas the next sailing to Northern Ireland is in April. A friend of my niece was coming home so he drove it on and off the boat for me. Once I had it home I booked a mot under the chassis number as it is an Isle of Man car. Isle of Man cars do not require a mot . This worried me as it has been on the island foe 13 years..

Car passed with no advisories.

So here is the bad points.
Right headlight has condensation.
Both headlights have broken lugs ( lug repair kit ordered )
Both cup holders broken.
Dash pocket hinge broken
Paint work has been neglected needs cutting and polishing
Alloys would need refurbishing ( plus point, 4 brand new Goodyear tyres recently fitted)

Other than that it is a great find with comprehensive service history from a specialist
Paper work sent to DVA for importing back to UK. Once I get all sorted I will post a few pictures. DVA states it can take 4 or 5 weeks to get a new V5 which is disappointing but hay ho. IMG_0791.jpeg

That was for sale on here for quite a while so it's good to see it has gone to another forum member and while although it sounds like it was a logistical challenge welcome to Coupe ownership.

Those headlight lug repair kits are a great idea (very unlike BMW to offer something that doesn't involve buying complete new parts) and replacement cup-holders are pretty cheap from Aliexpress. They can't be any more fragile than the OE ones!

Thanks. Yea. Lug kit is game changer I think. Was looking on AliExpress and will purchase some cup holders. Going to get dash pocket from eBay me thinks.

The MOT pass was a real bonus! Looks like you have a very manageable project to bring this coupe up to a great standard.

I replaced both cup holders with items from aliexpress and they work just fine. I did however replace the front cover with the original ones (with the small beverage logo).
Older cars tend to have always something to do to bring them up to your standard but I think that’s part of the fun.

I await to see how easy you find getting the front bumper off in order to get to the light units. I’ve tried on mine with no success!! I’m too scared of damaging something.

Already had the bumper off to sort the light with condensation for the MOT. The bumper to wing clips did break as they are old and fragile. But I have bought a new set for £20 on the internet. So hopefully that’s that sorted when I take it off again to fit the lug kit.

Paperwork back from DVLA. Wheels power coated in BMW grey option. Headlight lugs sorted. ( lug kit never arrived ) so repaired lugs with superglue and baking soda. Really strong repair. Cup loaders and glove box replaced. Car cut and polished. Car looks great and drives great. Very happy with my purchase
