Just been Driven into.

Drove down to the Trossochs today for a blast. Had a great run and an nice bit of breakfast at Callender before coming back up the road to Fort William. Pulled up to a roundabout turning left along side a car to my right turning right. Just about leaving the roundabout when I felt the car skip!!

Pulled into the nearest stopping place and found My drivers side rear with a great big scrape along the side.

The car that hit me didn't stop so for 15 minutes I was driving around Fort William looking for the car!

Found it eventually in a car park. Took some photos and waited for the driver to turn up.

The driver turned up saying she thought she had felt something and I must have hit her!

Got an exchange of details, registered the incident with the police and took the following pictures. Excuse the salt on the car as I had just driven 200 miles!

Still gutted but should be okay re insurance I think? What do you guys think?

Should be OK regarding insurance as it's your rear side to her front side.

That is one filthy motor though :lol: I doubt it'd need anymore than a bumper respray, which won't cost much at all.
 
Gutted for you, at least you found the other driver. Looks like you are in for a rear bumper respray, hope it gets sorted quickly.
 
bad luck! good luck finding the driver though :o
I probably wouldn't go through insurance for that, they would try to apportion some blame onto you as they always do, your insurance would rise & you'll be kicking yourself. Get it sprayed for a good price and move on, life's too short :thumbsup:

If she thought she felt something then why didn't she stop? If she had reason to believe she had been involved in an accident the law requires her to stop and exchange details.
Probably she knew it was her fault and thought she could get away with it.

This is what I think. She was unlucky that Fort William isn't a big place!
 
I'd gun for her, she knew she hit you and it is an offence not to stop, she thought she gave you the slip.

Good advice I think... Insurance companies always ask "have you been involved in an accident", no matter whose fault it was... you will keep your no claims, as it would be her insurance, but you will be seen as a higher risk for the next 5 years as you have "been involved in an accident"... that's exactly what happened to me.
 
You were lucky - the scrape removed 5 layers of salt and only 2 of paint!

Whilst all logic says that she was at fault and either she or her insurance should pay, that's not ever a foregone conclusion.

Hope you get it all sorted at no cost to you.
 
Accidents on roundabouts are a grey area as far as Insurance companies are concerned .We had a bump on the rear corner,slightly more damage than yours.After months of arguments,they went knock for knock. :cry:
 
Good advice from Samrtbear, if you try and fight it it'll end up costing you more in time, effort, stress and money.
 
This is all a bit annoying as it wasn't my fault in the slightest.

I hope it turns out to be more straightforward than some folk are saying.

Will let you all know.

Nasty! Well done tracking her down - bet she got a fright as she was probably fully aware she'd scraped you.

Sorry to hear about your scrape, but thankfully you found the culprit! :thumbsup:

Not sure I would want to claim on my own insurance for that, but I'd certainly push to claim against her.

Agree. Cost of repair probably no more than you excess, if the claim went badly. :cry:
