Some F!"£$!g little scumbag has reversed into the front of my F30 320d this morning, either outside of my office or in Asda car park. Get this, my car was literally right in front of CCTV cameras in both locations, line of sight, clear as day, right there. But both cameras in both locations are either dummy cameras or not plugged in and not recording. You can probably imagine how livid I am, I need to lose my sh!t with someone but I don't know who.

Anyway. Can anyone recommend a decent accident repair centre in Newcastle/North Shields/Wallsend area? The damage isn't massive, there's no visible cracks or scratches, but the front bumper has been slowly pushed back quite far and has buckled around the joint with the wheel arch and the headlight has dipped, so it could either be an easy snap back in fix or a deceivingly badly damaged internals situation.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

I hope the perpetrator gets what's coming.

Ohhh Sneap Doggy Dogg, I've heard of that place, a lad at work went to him a good few years back.
Well Chips Away on Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate just estimated £50 to "straighten it up" but that was just from an external visual inspection, I can't help but reckon it's one of those things that once they get the bumper off it'll be like "ohhh...well, that's nasty and needs replaced, part won't come in til next week" type thing.
Sad thing is the perpetrator managed to do it in front of 4 CCTV cameras, none of which were live. So chances are he/she is extremely lucky. If I had of found out who did it, I swear to god I don't think I'd have been able to keep a calm head about it.

CCTV is my line of business and I would bet Asda give that line as a standard response. They will be worried about the third party sueing them for violation of the Data Protection Act (DPA) if they give you the footage, nailing someone else.

Go back and ask to view all footage of YOU in the store and in the car park from the time you arrived until you left. You are entitled to do so under the DPA and the maximum they can charge you is £10 as an Admin fee. Ask what their DPA policy is and what their CCTV retention periods are quickly, so you know how long the footage is available for.

The Supermarket car parks are mostly all filmed and many have ANPR. A few inc Sainsbury's network their ANPR into the Police network for National intelligence. The Supermarket often finance the install but the contribution for Police feeds cover a lot of the annual maintenance costs.

It is common to bat away the first request, as it costs more than £10 to administer and leads to further complications, the business does not want.

Good luck.

That's amazing info. There is a camera there but they claimed its a dummy camera from when the store used to be a Kwik-Save. This is just a small supermarket though, one of those small Asda's that used to be something else, and they share their car park with a carpet shop and a job centre. Both of which also claimed to have no cameras.
The other problem I have is that I'm not 100% sure whether it happened in that car park or at work, I first noticed it in Asda car park, but it could have happened the morning leading up to that.
Dammit I'd go their tomorrow but I don't have a car tomorrow, the mrs is dropping me off as the Z4 is off to Sunderland to get the air con fixed. FFS! I'll give them a call, but if I can't be sure it happened in that car park I don't know how much of a dick I want to be about it... if you know what I mean, might end up looking foolish at the end if it didn't happen in there.

OK, I see. You can pretty much be assured that any Supermarket with a Petrol Station will have live CCTV but maybe if its just a small convenience store, they may not have any outside.

Aye there's no petrol station, there's a camera on a cashpoint there but they said the background light is too bright to see into the car park from it...

Feeling your pain. Some ar#ewipe wrecked the drivers door on my old Fiat Coupe. deliberatly with a key, 15 ft from a camera pointing straight at the car. Alas the camera was set up to read number plates. So, although we got all the plates, we had no idea which one it was. Did get a nice view of his feet, as he f#cked my door up. :headbang:  :headbang:

As paranoid as it sounds, I think I will consider dash cams and my own CCTV outside my house. You just can't rely on other people these days.
But with two cars, which one gets the dash cam, sounds expensive for two.
And GG to Google ads for their mind blowingly sensitive ad delivery mechanisms, advert for CCTV cameras just appeared on this thread for me. Pr*cks. :fuelfire: haha
I feel you pain too though, I'm hoping this isn't as severe as a keying incident. They quoted me £50 for the repair but like I said earlier, I have a feeling that might have been a hasty non-educated guestimate.

yeah, I'm seeing that ad too!
Google is not your friend - big brother is watching you!

It maybe worth you considering a Dash Cam, with inbuilt shock sensor for the future ?

If you're doing that for when parked you need one for the rear as well.

I've got two of our three cars covered. But after watching the program this week think I should get the Mrs car done as well. Could be £50 well spent.

Same thing happened to me mate. Went into the garden centre to pick up some bit, came back out to my rear license plate lights dangling down and a Scuff on the bumper.

It really angered me that I didn't know and couldn't confront the retard that did it. Haven't fixed it yet!

This has been a real PITA as well. I took the car to Chips Away to have it sorted, and they did a p!ss poor job, they gave me the car back with a wonky headlight!! So I had to take it back down to them today, left it with them for the day, they weren't all that happy, they gave me it back with the headlight straightened but now there's a chip out of the plastic surrounding the fog lamp!! FFS :headbang:
I'm furious with the mook that did this to my car and now with the poor work quality of Chips Away. All this hassle for something I had absolutely no way of preventing.

Not had this problem with a car but my son had his locked up bike nicked right from under a camera outside a supermarket. It wasn't working when the police went to view the images. It was positioned right on the bike racks so you would expect it to be there to protect their customers property.
The police did nothing else useful. A few weeks later he saw it being ridden by. We reported that. Nothing! He saw it again and followed them and reported where it was taken. The Police finally visited, but, despite it being a customed bike which we described to the Nth degree and supplied images off our home security camera from just a few hours before it was stolen, they refused to get it back because i couldn't locate the serial number. Of course the sh*t that had the bike also had the serial number.

There is no justice in this country and CCTV doesn't serve us law abiding people. :headbang:
Everything is stacked against us.

So you told the police where your bike was and they didn't fetch it for you? Sounds like Nottingham's policing style is finally catching on! Sounds like its time to pop round with the boys.

If some twat was riding my bike around i'd knock them off  No chance i'd let them go if I was 100% sure it was mine.

What they gonna do? Call the police and tell them they were knocked off the bike they stole? Actually they probably would nowadays
