Just back

Well, just back after being in France for 12 days and 1800 miles later. Car never missed a beat and handled some of those dodgy side roads pretty well. Best highlight was visiting the old pit lane outside Reims on my way to Reims for my 50th and the obligatory champagne house tour, tasting and purchasing, what an amazing city by the way and took some good shots. Hopefully I can share them will you all.

You will have to excuse the side on pics, not sure why its doing that but can't seem to correct them. :driving:

Thanks Coupster, I would reccommend the area to anyone, the Champagne house tours and caves are very interesting as was the tasting, and stayed one of the Champagne regions too.

Love the old circuit at Gueux, and it is possible to drive 2/3 of it. The old stands/pits are very evocative.

How did you manage to carry luggage for 12 days AND bring champagne back? Or did you send it back by courier, which is what we have done in the past.

Nick you would be amazed at what we brought home. 4 bottles of Champagne, full dinner service, 2 bottles of Rose, 2 bottles of red, 5 new polo shirts and 6 place mats as well clothes for 12 days.

I love this car. It did help that the Gite had a washing machine so washed clothes and still had unworn clothes to bring home. Only problem is the boss lady now thinks we can bring more back next time.

That was before we set off 12 days ago!!!

Trip was just amazing. Anyone who has not taken there zed over the water to Europe does not know what they are missing out on, am already planning next year's trip :driving:

Going over there next month. Catch the end of the Tour de France (driving near to Paris, not right in!). Then going to spend 4 or 5 days driving around before heading back. Cant wait.

Spike you won't regret it, can recommend Reims which is only just over 1 hour away from Paris. City is amazing and Champagne house tours are worth it. Enjoy

I am impressed at what you brought back in your Z. I thought my wife and I packed light, but you must take it to an extra level. When we last took my wife's E85 to France I think we managed just a couple of bottles, which was the reason we used the services of a friendly wine merchant to transport our champagne (from a champagne house just outside Bouzy, a town in the middle of the vineyards, which seem to stretch on forever). The 123d convertible we took the next year was much better (back seat for bags and boot for wine).

Her current E89, which is off to Brittany for 2 weeks in a couple of weeks, is useless in terms of luggage space, but Brittany is not a wine region.

If you pack the boot correctly on the E85 its amazing what you can carry as you can see from what I listed. Think thats why i like the soft top best because the boot is a decent size.

I have an astra estate as the daily but the zed would win everytime for me regardless of the boot size in the Astra lol :P

Apologies its side on. Visited Troyes, 10 churches in one city on just just about every street corner when you turned a corner another church appeared. Structure of these things is truly incredible.
