Ok, firstly the mods can do nothing about the ads at all, only I can do that.
The ads are fed from Google and they are based on 2 things:
1. The data Google collects from this site (so yes, threads like "for the boys" and "for the girls" are probably partly responsible
)
2. Your personal Google history
In terms of the second point it means that if you search for "Granny Dating" or "Dog rollerskates" in Google (or click those ads elsewhere) then when you come here those are the ads you will see, as that is what Google thinks you are into.
If you see a disturbing advert then please PM me the url of it and I will block it on the ad filter, but I cannot just blanket ban all these things, it just does not work like that.

I'm with JDM. I can see the ads and I haven't been searching dating sites... neither has my wife, to the best of my knowledge. Although I might quiz her on this later now... 
Google is well known for 'harvesting' information from users browsers. My job is internet based and because I do research on behalf of clients, I actually have my Google search history switched off...

Ad Block Pro is my friend. The page serves up the ads, the site gets the benefit. My browser filters all the ads out, so I miss some of the more amusing ones...
