June 14, 2009 Leona Valley California

Weekend is shaping up to be cool ( only 73 deg in the valleys ). I will dress in layers and be able to shift with the weather.

Bring something to cut cherries off the branch with and a bucket or bowls to get them home ( only needed if the cherries are not in your stomach ).

Check the first post for updates and directions. Looks like 11 of us will be showing up.

Those not attending and wanting pies, Cherries $$, Gas, Labor to pick cherries, Pie prep and materials cooking gas and labor ---- cherry pie --- priceless. CoolZ4   :poke:

Any idea which one you will go to first ? Denise and I might try to come down from Fresno and meet you there if that's ok

It's always OK. :poke:

Planning on being cherry picking by 9:30. As to which place, Two of them have been open , this will be the second weekend, an one just opened this weekend. I posted three as some may have been over picked. I can PM you my cell # and we can go from there? Sorry to be so vague, however the farms when called will not say whether or not they will have cherries.

They have cherries just not sure of the one I want.

I was going to say something else, but when I said it out loud Robyn hit me. :headbang:

Well today was absoutely Super! And it certainly helped that the Laker Won! (glad I got my chores done before half time!)

So far today I think I ingested at least a pound of cherries. The ride thru the mountains to and from was in some of the most beautiful Country I've seen since Maui, and the people were extra great.

Thanks bob for putting this one together, it was your usual "10"!

Ok, now, lets start planning what is next!

The cherries are so good! The day was fantastic and fun! Great roads, weather, people, cars and lots of laughter! Thanks Bob and Robyn for another great fun run. Many more miles of smiles!

!0's are easy when I get input from the attendees as to events of interest. This was your input for this event.

I am in the process of up loading pics and movies.

Great day , no unwanted attention for the CHP and it has been such a long awaited time for that road to reopen. More roads to visit.

Memorial severices to be held in a new thread. :poke: :fuelfire:

Some of us met up for breakfast at Hill Street Cafe.

We then headed for the cherry orchards by way of route 2 and the Palmdale cuttoff. There was clouds being pushed from the beach inland.

Zpilot got a tire warning so we stopped in Palmdale to check. Safe than sorry. No issue found, so on to the orchard.

Actually they were there to move ladders for us.

There were some offenders caught. They said they wanted to make sure the cherries were ripe.
