Hello to you all, just joined this forum, hope it will help me understand my Z4 .Bought this 2009 E89 on a 59 plate, bright red with 38000 miles on the clock. What a drive I must say, bought it in Manchester and drove home to Essex, about 265 miles so a good test for it.I have the sdrive 23i model,no i drive computer though so just the normal small computer between the dials.Getting to play my music via the usb was a bit tricky for me ,bit slow in that area, also do I have angel eye lights that stay on when driving with the lights in auto,I know that in bad light the dipped headlights will come on but will the angel eye sidelights stay on during normal lighting conditions,I am asking this because I am sure when I bought the car some weeks ago the sidelights were on all the time during normal driving,I am wondering if I have touched something to make them go out.The check control feature has me stumped, find it a bit confusing to set anything. So basically all I want to know is that does my Z4 E89 have these driving lights ,the halos ,should they be on as soon as I start up,help please.

Welcome to the Z4-Forum. Bright red - great colour  Looking forward to seeing some pics when you figure out how to post them (use photobucket http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=640  )

Hi another Essex owner, welcome.

Hope to see you out and about with the roof down as its not that common a sight with the E89 :poke:

Im sure an E89 owner will be along to answer your questions.

where about in Essex ?

Your car has DLR's ( Daytime running lights ) which can be knocked on /off using the on board computer it should explain how to do
this in the manual :)
And welcome to the forum

Hello .. welcome to the club

For a few months I will still be in Essex, send me a pm and pop round and I can help with your questions

Thank you all for your kind welcome and comments. Since my first post about my little niggles with my Z4 I have visited my local BMW dealership,Fairfield Motors,Leigh on sea Essex. They let a tech guy loose on me who quickly set me right,he even set up the telephone connection in my car and went through the on board computer system,so all is well with the World and my gorgeous Z4.

Well done .. thanks for the PM, also good to know you have every thing sorted

Fairfield are a great dealership (I think they won dealer of the year award sometime back) also I think they are one of the last few remaining non franchise family run dealers about these days.

Also if you join the BMW owners club you get a % discount on parts etc

Hi can anyone tell me why I was able to open the roof on E89 Z4 until recently and now it will not do so,have I by any chance altered a setting on the computer or is it a key fob problem.I have tried both fobs with no joy.I was quite chuffed when it did work when I first got the car at the end of last year.Roof opens fine using in car buttons.Help please or do I have to find a good indy BMW garage to sort it out or is there a part that can be fitted to open and close the roof with the remote.

obvious first checks:

is the shelf in the boot down and locked in place correctly ?
are you holding the open fob on the key for long enough?

Hi yes done all that so what has changed in a matter of weeks.Roof opens ok using in car buttons.Like a dog with 2 tails when it worked from key fob late last year.Had it open this morning from inside car.Does the key fob have to be reprogrammed or something,or have I fiddled with something else to stop it working. Is there anything else that I can try.Michael.
