Well I've gone and done it. After taking my 35is in for service and little hesitancy in performance issues during which time they loaned me a M40i, I bit the bullet and acquired one. Took some searching as I really wanted the blue with ivory, not to everyones taste but it hit the right buttons with me. Eventually found the spot on used car, M40i with all the bells and whistles, was tempted at new but concerned it might not have all the toys due to chip shortages and of course price. Traded the 35is in and reasonably pleased with price I got.

So far really impressed with the way it drives. I find it to be more relaxed in the way it puts down the power, still having the performance of the 35is it feels less harsh. The handling is more planted and it certainly corners far better. I find the noise levels are about the same if not a little better with the roof down. With the roof up the infernal rattling when going over out wonderful UK roads has all but disappeared. Sadly the exhaust has lot that 35is warble but I can live with that.

Hopefully the weather will improve and can start to really test the beast but did manage to get a few pictures as you really need a screen backdrop on your computer of your car :D :D :D

An excellent choice Strasse109 if I may say so!!

Looks beautiful!

With regard to the exhaust noise, I'd imagine it has a petrol particulate filter which can be removed to up the aural drama a little. As long as you don't mind upsetting the polar bears...

That looks lovely.

I'd really struggle to decide between blue and red!

That looks a cracker. I do like the blue (misano?) and I find I am looking more and more at the M40i. Enjoy
